1. Incarna Launches riddled with hardware performance issues for some as well as exorbitantly priced Clothing/accessory. 2. People rage about prices, and performance. 3. Internal CCP newsletter leaks that strongly suggest non-vanity MT coming to eve. 4. People rage about leaked PDF. 5. CCP Pann makes a thread apologizing for not responding earlier and puts forward that our chief complaint is the prices, which is no longer the case following the leaked PDF. 6. People overwhelmingly flood CCP Pann's thread with the question of whether non-vanity MT will be coming to eve. All CCP say on the point is they cannot answer. 7. In-game protests start aimed at disrupting the trade hubs and spreading word about their concerns. 8. A out-of-character devblog with a by-line of CCP Zulu is posted. The devblog only addressed the PDF in saying that is not a verbatim indication of their plans but is more a discussion. The dev-blog also addresses the prices of the current items, but nothing about the concern of future MT items. 9. Protests/forum rage continues. 10. An eve-radio show with several CSM members(current & past) goes through the issue. CSM members state the the CCP Zulu devblog is out of character and that they have been stonewalled as far as all the recent controversy has been concerned. 11. During the radio show the e-mail of hillmar's is released, which quickly ends any contemplation to CCP's intentions and stance. 12. YOU ARE HERE. __________

13. CCP puts out a new Dev Blog stating that MT items will only ever be vanity. They further apologize to the EVE community and attempt to win our hearts by refunding all AU to people who have purchased a monocle and gift one to everyone with an active account. This action saves EVE and everyone re-subs their alts with renewed faith in CCP.

the important part is an apology.
they've lost touch so much with us. the disconnect is what is killing this game and the arrogance from the top at CCP is what will be the downfall of it's success.
if they wait too long for an apology, they'll permanently lose the faith of the loyal and optimistic.
I for one am optimistic and hope doods at the top realize that the game they once loved is about to lose it's most important asset...
it's fans.

Yep, at least for once they wont have to worry about the servers overloading. But instead actually being able to pay the bills. But out of all that I read, nothing mattered or that's got me ticked or was it even mentioned why.
What was that nobody's seem to realize. Numerous people are getting PERMABANNED for 'threatenning a member of ccp' when they are only complaining, including the followers of the specific person. CCP's lost complete sense of reality. - well.. that one's been around forever. But they started to ignore there own CSM's/people that actually connect the company to the players. That everything added so far, apart from the turrets is exactly what we said not to add - that other matters are needed more attending to than these.

Selling advantages in a game means you give us a choice to either pay up to be competitive, or suck it up and under-perform, because we did not pay you for the advantage others paid for.
Accept the single fact, that most people, most your playerbase, do not like games that do that. They rather play games where your in-game power grows with time and effort.
That is going to make a lot of people to quit eve online.
Now, this is where your problems start. Without those people some things will start to get a bit complicated in eve. Market wont be as alive as it is now. Politics will slowly die out. Your community will become a shadow of it's own self. That is going to decrease atractiveness of eve, and it will be harder for you to gain new players. Next year around this time you will be wondering what to do to get people to play eve online, WoD will be still unfinished, and dusk514 will be fiasco, as there is no much dust-eve interaction without eve beeing a thriving world of intrigue and (wait for it) COMPETITION. Reviews of your company at glassdoor.com show that you do not like to listen to criticism, so I guess you need to experience the downfall to learn that you made a bad choice. This is sad, as we liked the game of internet spaceships.

See point 2.
Um... no
Yes there was unrest circulating as you mention in point 2. There was also a specific chat where CCP comments were posted that generated a lot more ire than what you refer to in point 2. The foolhardy thread is what I'm saying you've missed.
you realize there's more to the story than that? Point 2 had nothing to do with what I was referring to. Also... most of the rage you refer to in point number 2 was not about prices. It's microtransactions at all as a game influencer vs vanity only vs no MT. It's not just about specific price points.
Also, as others have posted... you've missed SO much context.
How about the bannings of characters like liang/helcity/etc... some of them raged more than others... how about the context behind that rage? How about the statements that there would be no mictrotransactions by CCP, and then the statements that there would be MT's for vanity only. For example when CCP stated, "don't worry... our business model isn't going to change" or words to that effect. How about the CSM who sold everything because of the microtransaction issue about a year ago?
A major element of the current rage is solidly based around CCP's assurances that microtransactions would not be in the future for eve. We've been lied to big time by CCP. THAT is why there's current rage... not because monocles are expensive.

Messenger is trying to do a good job. Largely he is correct, but defining what is important and what is minor (banning of specific players- yes Laing is important - is my alt?) is a grey area that can be time consuming and bog down progress.
What I am saying is; keep the rage directed at the people/company that deserves it.

My "Rage" as people are calling it is not the information or details that are coming out, although making me unhappy, doesn't put me to rage... it is the lack of answers and seeming condemnation of there playerbase as cash-cows to be milk almost dry but not quite.
Give me straight answers and don't talk down to me like a 5yr old. I am an adult and can take bad news, and if I don't find it acceptable I will take my money and leave. It is your choice, I don't really care what you do it is your company and money. I just want to know some answers so I know whether or not your get MY time and money. Fair exchange we both risk the same, my business, I know it is unimportant to you and i cannot change your mind if i don't like the direction and i'm not going to try. I just need to know so i know if i am staying or not. No big deal, you either have my business or you don't...
So stop dancing around being elusive and state the direction of Eve. You have no problem being all in faces when you have big announcements and such. Why can't you tell us the plan for Eve? According to all the leaks and such it is obvious that Eve is changing drastically very quickly kinda like SWG did back in the day, I left there because i didn't like the changes.
Sorry for the rant but long day and it seems this post ended up being my venting. More to say but i could literally go on for pages, already wrote a 5page word doc to email CCP when i can finally finish it off.

"3. Internal CCP newsletter leaks that strongly suggest non-vanity MT coming to eve."
Single biggest problem I see. If people want to shell out big cash for some stupid shirt and eye wear that's their problem. But if CCP makes it so that people will have a game advantage only and only based on the money they play, that's pretty lame. Stop messing around with this non sense and please do something like fixing hybrids.

Useful and informative post, will link it when answering the myriad of questions I'm getting on the subject.
As for the rage in EVE atm, it's my view that it's not directed that the MT option as such, but rather a critical mass of players losing faith in CCP's ability to deliver a game that's worthwhile. You cannot create a sandbox gaming experience, market it as a sandbox experience for years and then suddenly go "hey gold ammo is needed here". Some decisive action in the next week might bring that back from NGE territory, but if they keep at the $1000 pants and similar spin, they've managed to kill off the great loyal following that is the EVE-playerbase.

It would be worth adding that the tone of the devblog was mildly insulting.
Further, the tone of Hilmar's email was essentially a giant F-U to paying customers... as indicated by choice quotes explicitly stating the player rage was anticipated, and that player opinion will be ignored.
At first it was normal 'bad expansion' rage... The leaked fearless newsletter turned it into a 'CCP lied to us issue'... The devblog was mildly insulting and added fuel to the fire... The Hillmar email made this CCP's NGE.

13. CCP puts out a new Dev Blog stating that MT items will only ever be vanity. They further apologize to the EVE community and attempt to win our hearts by releasing a patch that includes every issue brought up in the 1000 papercut thread and giving a monocle gift to everyone with an active account. This action saves EVE and everyone re-subs their alts with renewed faith in CCP.
