what to attract customers to a game that charges the same price for virtual clothes as real ones, and its CEO treats its entire player base with no respect?
Awesome marketing campaign, yeah......

No.
This has NOT gone anything remotely to Hilmar's plans.
Period.
Don't let his false bravado in that 'leaked' email to make you think otherwise.

Marketing campaigns don't typically involve Public Relations Suicide.
I'm going to bed. _____ This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change. |

Edited by: Jaxom Asgard on 25/06/2011 09:20:51 yup 'there's no such thing as bad publicity'
& they are counting on the people that have 'unsubscribed' to come back, not least due to the fact that most will have a number of days/weeks/months until they run out of play time... How many people have bio-massed thier chars?

Trust me, there is bad publicity.
How much do you think the NGE episode of SWG is going to cost the new SW:TOR? I'd estimate millions. word of mouth spreads fast on the internet. I know many people like me read forums and related articles before I buy a game (especially MMOs)

clever marketing plan? are you mental? What investor is going to look at an icelandic company that has created a storm of anger in its client base describing customers as "golden goose" to be "milked" where internal documents are being leaked and the management are being ridiculed in all of the gaming press for there out of touch pricing and public relations, where board members are now being contacted by gamers and press to explain the companies actions and the ceo's comments.
I spoke to an investment banker buddy of mine last night who has no affiliation with eve, his words, "The vultures will be circling, its not a good investment but its a damn good takeover option, sell off the WoD and release a cheap version of DUST to bring in some cash without a link to eve, allow eve to slowly die with no further expansions whilst the assets are broken up"

I dont think they care if we come back... sure they would like more money but they are going to make more off the bling than our subscriptions.

Oh, your friend is a banker? Didn't they just cause the biggest global economic catastrophe since the wall street crash?
I'm suprised he isn't suggesting that the CCP CEO goes and spaffs his shareholders cash down the local casino on blackjack games.

Edited by: Gulliver Rex on 25/06/2011 11:03:42 Well, I cancelled/biomassed.
But ... if I never played Eve before, I think I'd be checking it out.
And Jita, it must be, like, every teenage boy's wettest dream. And, the monocle, just like the hacker from Lulz Sec!!!
CCP Zinfandel is a marketing genius. PS3 crowd hails the new Caesar!!!

Yes hes a banker and yes Ive given him greif for it. The fact remains however that he is very good at his job which involves identifying business' to take over in order to break up and sell off the constituent parts. Now he sees the oppurtunity to do that to eve and actually expects sony to do it.

Dear god, the aurum store in of itself and the ridiculous prices for monocles I couldn't care less about.
Like most players, what concerns me is the possibility of buying SP for money. (non-vanity assets I'm in two minds about)
But if Sony take over CCP? I'll quit immediately.
oh wait, what if they already have? Hilmar was up on the sony stage right? Anyone checked the back of his head for implants?...
(yeah, kinda tinfoil, but you get the gist)
