Hello fellow capsuleers and New Eden residents!
The 'Fearless' newsletter has sparked great controversy and anger in all of us. I don't think I would want to play EVE if they went ahead and made the micro-transaction system they are talking about in that newsletter, but they haven't made these changes yet so I am not going to cancel my sub today. But look at Jita right now! About a thousand players shooting the memorial, local chat brimming over with protests, cans being anchored and named 'NO AUR!'. And that made me think. Instead of just writing on the forums, let's take our complaint into the game. This is what you can do:
Make everyone in you local chat aware of what is going on. Link to the Fearless newsletter. Make your opinion known in your bio. Link to the Fearless newsletter. Post about this on your corporation and alliance forums. Get more people involved. Post about this on your corporation and alliance EVE-mail. Get more people involved. If you use EVE gate, then why not use it to let your friends know what's going on @ CCP right now? If you have the time and the skills anchor a can or two at a gate or station saying 'NO to AUR' Hold a rally - gather in Jita, Rens, Amarr and Dodixie and sing songs of protest!
To shoot this off I will host a 500M ISK competition! The rules are simple, make a digital protest banner (an image) with the best anti-MT or anti-AUR slogan you can think of (plus points if it's really pretty) and we'll have a forum vote on it on the 28th of this month to see who's the winner.

Why bother?
They have made it perfectly clear the direction they are taking.

Because you can? Because if you get enough momentum behind any idea it can become reality?

You realise that the bannhammer has been wielded over a section of the EULA and TOS that claims leaked documents as priviliged communication and disseminating said information IN ANY VENUE to be grounds for termination of service?

You're not very smart are you?
Per Hilmar; "we'll endure this ****storm as most people talk a lot but don't actually cancel their subs. We don't care about their words just their actions so we'll be just fine as long as we just stay the course".
He's telling you and everyone that he challenges us to actually do it, rather than yap a lot and eventually accept it like the sheep and cattle we're supposed to be. ________

lol, where's your fighting spirit? Hilmar says this, Hilmar says that. This is just starting, you can weather a drizzle or even a storm, but when a hurricane tears the roof off your house it's a different matter altogether.

What is there to fight? CCP is going ahead with the changed they see fit regardless of our view on them. Because they feel that the majority of the cattle will stick around anyway (you seem to be one, congrats on being cattle ready to be milked) and the few they'll lose will be replaced by new cattle that doesn't ask so many difficult questions.
They're telling you that they'll slap you in the face and expect you to go "thanks sir, can I have another one sir!". If you like that sort of thing, go ahead. ________

both Seleene and Trebor posted the following on their respective blogs
Quote: I woke up this morning to find the forums even more afire with rage about Incarna, the "Fearless" newsletter, and the Virtual Goods store. I could tell in a few minutes that I wasn't going to get anything else done today.
So, I've spent most of the last 12 hours answering player questions, trying to give CCP good feedback on the issues, trying to get them to see how bad things have gotten. My fellow CSMs were doing the same.
Late in the day, we were presented with a draft devblog, and asked to comment on it. With the exception of the removal of a rather unfortunate analogy, that draft was essentially identical to what was just published.
None of CSM's concerns -- the ones the players were asking about -- were addressed; in particular:
Will non-vanity virtual goods be introduced? Will CCP change their virtual goods pricing strategy? Will the CQ remain optional, or will it eventually be forced on the players?
To say that CSM is disappointed in this devblog would be an understatement. Incredulous is more like it.
Based on the devblog, and my impressions from the conversations I have had in recent days, it is my opinion that CCP has decided upon a strategy with respect to virtual goods and Incarna, and that they are going to fearlessly implement it regardless of feedback from CSM or the players.
Our words, and yours, on this issue seem to be worthless. Only our actions have any weight.
Seleene adds "I am carefully considering what to do next as I mull all this over." at the end, Trebor adds some fluff about his wife in between

Educate yourself.
You do know that espionage and character assassination is quite literally the hobby of a lot of EVE players. One simply isn't allowed to wreck a multi-million dollar money printing machine, you have to talk the stakeholders into believing that what you are doing won't break it. The MT PR disaster train has no breaks, and I'd wager that someone runs the serious risk of getting their career metaphorically shot in the face and dumped in the ocean over this.

I remember that when the EVE bank scam happened some years ago it made it into the main-stream media. There was an article in the New York times about the massive ISK theft. I'm not saying that the Times are gonna write about it, but if this protest goes on long enough and loud enough, eventually it will spill from these forums and the gaming media into the mainstream media as well - proving to me more than just a nuisance for CCP but an actual embarrassment that could damage the company.
So get out your fighting spirit, lay down that unbecoming apathy and dissolution and stand up for the game most of us have invested years in!

Your kind of protest just won't work, they understand money, gains and loses they've already shown they don't actually care about the customers. Which only leaves one way to effectively protest.

You people who say 'they haven't added anything yet so am staying' are deluded. You're going to stay anyway because you don't have anything else in your miserble life. CCP are counting on people like you. Shooting the memorial is completely ****in pointless at this stage.
