Christ, I've never seen a protest about something drive so many people TOWARDS the thing they're protesting, rather than away. QUICK EVERYONE LOG IN AND PLAY A LOT SO THAT CCP GETS THE MESSAGE! THEN ALL THE MAGAZINES IN THE WORLD WILL TALK ABOUT IT AND KNOW OUR MESSAGE!!
The "protesters" here should go to Libya, they'd shower Gaddafi with gifts of cash and first born children to show they want him out of power.

EVE's a boring game, this is the first time we've actually had something exciting to do as a community.
Same deal with Libya, now we can go beat up on a Middle Eastern guy without a long, tedious occupation.

First: They should punish everyone because someone is shooting a monument? Are you serious? Someone should punish you for training stupid to level 5.
Second: What are they actually doing that's wrong? Seriously, what?
Third: HTFU or QQ, noob.

First: The monument thing is just ****ing in the wind, I'm talking about this whole "WE OWN THE GAME NOT YOU!"...CCP should just close up shop and tell you all to sit on a ****ing fencepost, then relaunch calling it VEV since none of you shipdits would figure it out.
Second: They're annoying me during my coffee.
Third: I would, but I'd be lost among all the people failing to handle the thought of the first and doing too much of the second. Noob.

They would never do that.
Though they might form the CCP Employee Allience, and just give themselves invincible titans that can warp anywhere, immune to all ewar and unlimited doomsday that they can spam as fast as they hit the button. That is how they might protest.

This'll never happen, but I'd laugh my arse off if CCP flagged all the failquitter's accounts so they CAN'T be reactivated, and the credit cards being used CAN'T be used again on existing or new accounts.
That, my friends, would be EPIC.

I was thinking last night when the "protest" first hit Jita that a sudden server glitch disabling concord would have been very pertinent...

CCP (like all mmorpg) is based on a form of utilization. The same as ISP's use. There may be 180,000 accounts (I dont know the number, but ccp does publish it from time to time) and the servers may be able to handle 75k users at max utilization. We know Jita is capped at 1500 users (plus the 3 dev accounts that were logg'd in yesterday) and if users keep that trend up around some key systems that utilization goes over 100% and the servers begin to stagnate. Soon 1500 people protesting knocks on and ticks off 20-30k users. The only non-bannable form of protest is adding non-bug server load with complaining.
It's not been a good month for ccp, DDOS and now this. If users keep up this form of protest ccp will need to take action in the form of mass bannings, lowering limits, restricting logins, or upgrading hardware. If you cant see how this is making a point then I guess you have a lot to learn about life :/. ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |

What would this solve? Not only would it punish a lot of people not involved at all, but the people doing this would go about their business in the same way when they returned. Problem solving obviously never was one of the qualities you put on a CV.

You're annoying me during my goat milk. Ban hammer, nao!
Also, leave Jita ffs. If it annoys you, there are a lot of other systems open for you. I must be brilliant for thinking about this.

If CCP started banning people en mass and blocking access to the game it would create even more of a stir and would surly bring CCP to an end...is that really what you want?
It was also stated that CCP is going to be looking more at what the players do than what they say; ergo if they won't listen to us here, they'll have to listen to us in-game. Not to mention that these are very low login numbers for the first weekend of an expansion release for EVE, in case you were wondering.

I'm pretty sure that hassling everyone who hasn't complained yet (Most of EVE) with a 12 hour downtime would net even more rage that we have now (Hell, we might reach a rage singularity and EVE would implode)

The worst thing about this fiasco is CCP's attitude. They can not even comprehend that they did something wrong. CCP still imagines itself as a great independant company making fabulous community driven game. How they square this with the nonsense they have pumped out for the past two years I don't know.
This is actually not unique to CCP. They have just followed down the path the rest of the idiotically managed gaming industry has taken. Making worse games, chopping them into bits and selling the bits seperatly from the game. Like buying a book, but chapter 3 and 7 are not included and are sold seperatly.
Or buying a shirt and half the buttons are missing. You can buy them seperatly for five dollars each. These things should be included in the price you pay for a shirt. Getting all the buttons with your shirt does not make those buttons 'free.' You pay for them with the shirt.
If you to a bar and got a drink with no ice and the barman started asking for 3 dollars per ice cube would you think the bar owner was a clever manager? Personally I'd say he was a complete fool.

You realize that this is the Soylent Green scenario, right ? The only thing remaining, is that CCP then make the protesters they wipe out into food ... or perhaps in this case, monocles.

The problem is, this is the mentality of the new gamers today. Most haven't the sense God gave a jackass and don't realize when they are being financially bent over a barrel.
So, as a result, they continue to pay for things as you described and the situation just gets worse.
That coupled with the continued dumbing down of games today makes me wonder how on earth these companies ever expect to do business.
Here's a business model Idea for you CCP.
Make EVE ground, air and space level interactive, with components that appeal to a BROAD spectrum of players, and you WILL have more customers than you can shake a stick at.
The Nex, the way you wrote it and what you're NOT saying about it is merely going to drive more of your current flock away.
That to me is sheer idiocy.

Wow, now THAT would be a novel idea! Imagine, appealing to a broader spectrum of players! Good grief! Why hasn't someone thought of that! (removes her tongue from her cheek) OK...so...the promises are broken, the pricing absurd and the reasons why I joined turn out to be simply smoke screens thrown up to lure the unsuspecting into a game that has little, if any, chance of appealing to me in the long run! And hell yeah, I actually did have money to spend but NOT to line CCP's greedy pockets or to give me some form of "leg up" in a game I am new in and are items for which i have not earned the privilidge of using! I protest the ability to purchase game-altering items in a market for simply $$$ by simply witholding mine! I won't play this game...not the way it is heading!Sighs... to another game!
