Assumptions:
EVE and Dust will be linked together.
Dust will have a meaningful impact on gameplay in eve (namely 0.0 sov warfare as far as I understand).
Dust will be using a microtransactional (or should that be macrotransactional given the price of monocles) business model aimed at allowing (or rather strongly encouraging) people to purchase tangiable in-game advantages with RL cash.
These purchased DUST assets will be used meaningfully in-game; this amounts to fighting for control of territory. Territory, the control of which, will directly affect planets and possibly sov in 0.0 in eve.
Conclusion:
Real world money will be able to be used to purchase in-game advantages in eve.
Anyone else noticed this and is a bit concerned about implementation and ramifications?

This is eve, the inevitability of scamming goes without question.
I'm more concerned with the idea that CCP decry cash for advantage in eve (traditionally at least) and yet seem to have it baked into their Dust 514 business model. Have they thought about this? Is it on a scale that need not be worried about? etc etc etc etc etc

Probably not. RMTs will eventually hit Eve full force just like they'll hit all MMOs. It's an inevitable evolution. RMTs aren't necessarily a bad or evil thing. It's just another game mechanic. CCP just needs to balance it well. Why would they sell a "win" button when it's statistically proven that people who "win" at a game tend to get bored and leave.
A year or so ago there was this uproar when on this guy's killoard showed up about 20 or 30 lokis in the timespan of a few days. Basically some idiot was buying ISK and spending it all on T3 cruisers and losing each and every one of them to HACs or groups of T1 cruisers/BCs.
Just because you can buy powerful stuff in eve doesn't make you a instant winner. The sandbox has proven this time and time again. I'm not too happy about RMTs but it's where the industry is heading. Stop being such little girls and just adapt. Instead of Hulkageddon, have a yearly event where you kill people with monocles or whatever. Or people who fly faction stuff that they didn't earn through skill. It's possible, because it's eve. It's the only game that gives you this freedom.
So stop going mental.

Here I thought I was asking a reasonable question in a reasonable fashion.
RMT is ever-present but somewhat of a separate issue. People will do what people wll do.
What ccp does and the associated ramifications hypothetical or actual are a different matter.
You're right that being able to buy the best kit doesn't make you the best player, however if your whole corp can buy the best kit and keep replacing it without blinking it's once again, a different matter.
However, my main point of contention that I would like to see elaborated by the powers that be is simply that on the one hand we have a policy of vanity items only via mt in eve (no advantages), on the other hand advantage conferring shiny stuff via mt in dust and in the middle a link between the two games designed to allow one to meaningfully affect the other.
To me this is somewhat contradictory and has me a little baffled.

My apologies. I wasn't directing that specifically at you. Just the gang of hooligans yelling and hollering this misinformation.

Big alliances are already doing that with PLEX.

Good luck with releasing Dust 514 when you didn't have enough revenue before Incarna hit And now all the mass-unsubbing players? Yeah, have fun

Yes I did and mentioned it, we yet to see how it will work but I can't see and certainly don't have faith in CCP not to **** up our market/game with DUST's MT.
It isn't because of Monocles FFS. |
