I forgot about Tera! I agree, it really does have potential, but will it melt people's computers?

I doubt I'll play another MMO ever, I've been disappointed too many times now & it seems like the Greed is Good model is dominant within the industy.
I have plenty of other stuff to do, I'm kinda glad I'm out of the time sink loop that is MMO's. Although one thing I loved about EvE was you truely could have fun no matter how long you had to spend online.
I was a market PVP er &involved in FW ( 2 accounts ) both those activities were rewarding even if I could only spend 20 minutes to an hour online.
I'll miss EvE but for me EvE is dead, once incarna rolled out it died a quick & sudden DEATH.

Gave Perpetuum a go earlier on. A few UI tweaks to make it a little less all over the place and it would be nice to look at.
Mechs.... Now that was what made me actually look further than the homepage. Once I installed the client and ran it up... I felt like I was playing eve again. Where its not EvE it has too many similarities.... Actually, they could join forces with CCP/White Wolf and give us PC/Mac users our very own version of Dust514...um..Fluff357 maybe?
I digress. So far its been the only one I`ve looked at mainly for something different to do. I CBA with all this protesting and Whining about Plex/Aur/Monacles and Shag me boots. I just wanna go do what I normally do.
No Eve cancellation from me. And more than likely no Perp subscription. I`ll just play out the 15 day trial and see if it actually grabs my nuts in any way.

I've been playing and trying a bit of Perpetuum its not to bad, when i was online 434 people were on it, 246 of which were in a channel made called "EVE" so about half the players online when i was on were all from EVE lol
Not that i have quit EVE as of yet, still waiting to see how this turns out but figured id give the trial a fair go anyway :) --------------------------

Just checked out that Vendetta Online site. I don't understand how a Light Frigate is classed as a capital ship

Perpetuum is not in space. And that simply will not do.
Games that are in space seem to be either vaporware, arcade shooters, or fundamentally typical MMO's relying on "holy trinity" mechanics and *snore*
Just going to hope that CCP chooses to not destroy EVE, and if they do, that either the EVE code gets eventually sold to hobbyists, or that someone competent and sane decides to make a new player directed, player economy spaceship MMO.

Wurm Online for me. It's a nice sandbox, including terraforming, but of course it's not in space. It's also an Indie mmo, so of course progress is slow feature wise. Oh and WoT. |

General chat doesn't lists all player online btw eh, u can easily close that chat (i had it open only on 1 of my 4 accounts) still yes that's the real problem of perpetuum, the low pop. which is bad for a sandbox, but if more eve guys jump on the train..erm mech...

Originally by: Surfin's PlunderBunny Darkfall looks ok, they make similar promises that got me started on Eve. Gonna check out the free trial methinks after the riots are done
Last time I've checked Darkfall, it was all about grind, as your skills increase when you use them. That makes vets skill-capped and rich, able to kill a team of 10 noobs singlehandedly for the frack of it.
Also it is very noob-unfriendly. You had 24 in-game hours invulnerability, and that **** is all lowsec. If you see someone, they are there to kill you.
Not reccomending. -- I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Threadnaughts on fire off the shoulder of Orion... |

I've played Darkfall and WoT for about 2-3 months. Here are my impresions.
#Darkfall - To much grinding in order to skill up. [Although it's skill based game you have to use a skill to level it. Just to be able to craft something you first have to spend countless hours of "tree cutting", "mining" and "herbing".]
- No safe zones. [PvP paradise. To minimize losses I used to "mine" almost naked (no gears on).]
- Some time based skilling. [Just before I left the game they introduced time based skilling on some skills but you had to activate it by paying some of your gold.]
- You can't survive solo. [Join a clan even from the early days. There was a clan that was accepting all the noob people and helped them learn and train (much like EVE-University).]
- Logical subscription fee. [Similar price to EVE.]
Overall: Ideal for PvPer's.
Some things may have changed since then, as I haven't hit their forum for some time.
#WoT - To much grinding in order to advance in Tank Tier.
- Have to join a clan in order to "really" enjoy the game. Soloing ain't no fun (not to mention that going into a battle with team mates that are also soloers is, most of the times, a sure defeat and that ****es me off).
- Have to be top level Tier player in order to participate in Clan Wars (concider this as the "End Game" of WoT). Although I'm in a clan I haven't participated in any CW because I'm still a Tier 6 arty (arties go up to Tier 8).
- It's a P2W game, with "gold ammo" but no monocles!!! (I keep a standard account, means I P4F, and Tier leveling is time consuming aka too much grinding).
Overall: Ideal for Tank junkies and PvPer's.
Between both I had more fun in Darkfall but that's just my 0.02 cents.

I am going to take a break while still subscribed to eve, so i wont stop skilling up my chars. I plan to go back to playing WW2 online, i know the graphics are choppy, but you cant beat the multiplayer aspect of it and the hability of not only command tanks, but fly ariplanes ( bombers and fighters), be a infantry soldier, hell even a truck driver and AAA gunner. I played that game since beta, but left several years ago to play eve.

I have unsubscribed, and I will not consider resubbing until the issues that have been brought forth on this thread are adequately addressed.
That being said, I was wondering what game people are considering leaving for?
I'm considering Rift until ToR hits. Any thoughts?
EDIT: I'll make a list of those that were suggested and put a short description as I find it. Ryzom Perpetuum - A mech sandbox Mortal Online Infinity World of Tanks - exactly as it says... be a tank commander Rift - WoW like Star Wars: The Old Republic - WoW in space(maybe?) from Bioware Vendetta Online Tera - fantasy mmo. some sandbox qualities

Originally by: Torn Slightly I got tired of Rift very quickly. It's basically wow with different skill trees and more ways to make a character.
I wouldn't recommend it.
+1 i got bored with it in two months. if you want to try rift....wait for a trial or try and get some type of buddy key...

Edited by: Ticarus Hellbrandt on 28/06/2011 11:11:35 SWTOR sounds just like the NGE (iconic, play as the same class that han solo is ect...ect..)
Also seems to lack any innovation in the genre.
although the swg emu is coming along well now
