"Consumerism is a social and economic order that is based on the systematic creation and fostering of a desire to purchase goods and services in ever greater amounts." - Wikipedia
CCP has developed a living product that we as consumers have found desirable. We pay them a monthly fee to use that product. In order to continue to have a steady flow of customers they change, and make their product evolve in ways that cause the consumer to continue to purchase their product. If the product changes in such a way that consumers no longer purchase the product, then the company that produces it will improve it, and listen to the wishes of the consumer regarding what they would like to see in the future development of the product. If it comes to a point where the product is wholly unwanted by the consumer, than the consumer will stop purchasing and the company will either switch direction, or if that is the only product they produce then the company will most likely fail. What CCP does with the funds they receive from selling their products is their business. If they wish to make glass toilets for elephants then they have that right.
My point is, if you don't like the direction that CCP is taking with EvE Online, then quit paying for it. All this whiny nonsense has gotten incredibly out of hand. A simple "no thank-you" form the player base of EvE Online would have been plenty sufficient. If CCP wants to completely alienate the player base by not listening to them, well, that is their business. May they DIAF.
The protests in Jita, and elsewhere are not accomplishing anything, and only causing grief for your fellow players. I completely understand everyone's frustration concerning recent events, but please, how about some civility.

When your business depends on people giving you money every month it's a bad idea to go out of your way to offend them.

That's great and all, but what about all the time people spent molding the community which is just as important as the game itself? How does just unsubbing quietly repair a schism between the consumer and producer? People are raging because they want CCP to fix the game before they leave as a last resort.

Have done. So, after the :18months: debacle, roughly 100 people posted on the forums that they were unsubbing. Eve lost 40,000 subscriptions after that. Currently, the count in the thread here in General is 3091 accounts, from 1371 people - many of them some of the most influential players in the game. What do you think the ratio will be this time?

I have not unsubbed "yet".
I really really really hope I don't have to unsub.
I will keep asking the core question over and over: Will AUR go beyond VANITY items? If that comes out a solid "yes", then I'll have to make my decision.
Using WoW as an example, you can buy a whole bunch of non-combat stuff for cash, even some useful stuff like mounts, but equally usefully mounts are EASILY available in game (just not as 'cool looking').
So, PURE vanity items for cash? No problem. Vanity "skins" for useful items for cash? No problem. Officer Modules for AUR? BIG PROBLEM.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

The new content added to EVE as of late has been utter crap. No new lore has been added either in a while. What CCP is selling now is the community, which once destroyed will leave eve as a pathetic shell of what it once was.
