Burning Eden Video
At first glance the video is awesome. The first time that you watch it you kind of feel a little inspired. If eve is still around 2 years from now I can say "I was there"
Then you realize what is actually happening, thousands of PAYING ACCOUNTS paying CCP to protest inside of their own game. Then I think about how counter productive and irrelevant all of this is.
I now imagine CCP members sitting back saying "They will get bored with it eventually and move on" and in truth you will. The only protest is canceling subs. The rest of it is merely fire works and it is beyond meaningless. So keep paying CCP monthly dues to protest... I'm sure it will amount to... Notin.
Nice vid though

You will leave, no one will remember you or care that you ever even existed. This logic is not flawed. Your account will be replaced with the accounts of probies who never knew the former EVE and will not know any better. CCP will have their RL money and you will be left wondering the internet looking for a better MMO home.

Yeah that reminds of NGE-SWG, Smedley was waiting for mythical masses that would join SWG after old players left. It turns out they didn't....

It would probably help the protester cause if they stopped logging in altogether when they unsubbed. The vast drop in activity, ESPECIALLY on a weekend, would have been a much better message. ---- "Sounds like a bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me."

You are the one with flawed logic. Some of you who cancelled may have months left of game time. So CCP will not even notice....
The way to protest is to unsub then NOT LOG IN, make a visible impact on the eve offline graph, I know you want to have your little fun in the game but enourcaging people to protest in the game (PLAYING THE GAME) isn't making your case.

You're assuming this "new audience" for the game even exists. I haven't seen any evidence of them so far. Also, you can currently have as many trials for eve as you like(you just can't run more than one at once), so under the current rules people are able to protest for as long as the game exists wihtout paying ccp a single penny. It requires no effort either, since all you do is log in on minimum graphics settings, orbit the statue, activate the lasers then minimise or go off and do whatever you feel like until the next downtime.

It's more fun locking Jita down with a massive lag and fireworks. Trust me.

Huge flaw in saying "okay you mass rage quitters go f! yourselves, you can be replaced"! ... okay replace all the anchors in the social network and the community as a whole ... the knowledge and experience that mentors the next generation of eve players ... I'm pretty sure those day old accounts can cut it as corp, alliances leaders, write tutorials and third party applications.
Any loss, is a loss, it cannot be replaced so easily.

Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 26/06/2011 14:19:46 CCP knows that you do not have the resolve to see it through either.
The only currency they will understand is a massive player and subscription boycott. Then you will send a message. That is not being done so nothing is being done but people setting off fireworks and putting it on youtube.

Exactly- it may be 'more fun' to 'set off fireworks', but it's not sending a message to CCP nearly as strong as suddenly making the login numbers drop big time. ---- "Sounds like a bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me."
