Quote: Parley (pronounced /ˈpɑrlɪ/) is a discussion or conference, especially one between enemies over terms of a truce or other matters. The root of the word parley is parler, which is the French verb "to speak"; specifically the conjugation parlez "you(pl) speak", whether as imperative or indicative.
Beginning in the High Middle Ages with the expansion of monarchs, a parley, or "talk", was a meeting held between kings and their Chief Retainers. Parleys were part of the many changes in Europe, especially regarding governments. These meetings can be attributed to the formation of parliaments, which are derived from a similar root, parliamentum, simply meaning "talking".
The internationally recognised symbol for offering parley is a black flag, particularly in the context of shipping. For example a ship at war wishing to enter parley with its attackers may raise a black flag to indicate this. - Wiki
Talk does not mean sitt around and hope we will blow our steam shouting out at someone who does not talk back. A lot of players are adding white crossed bones to the black flag you requested, going after monuments, concord, npc's and new players. You (CCP) seriously need to start your requested parley NOW!

Pann had an emergency family situation (all the best by the way), but some other CCP member should have worked up the courage to actually talk to the community and try and calm this down some, instead though they're happy to see us all up in arms and continue to be more dismayed.

Well when you look at the CEOs email its pretty clear that if Pann had been talking it wouldnt have actually meant anything.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

Edited by: Elienore on 26/06/2011 13:55:53 Seeing how some (most) people who are pro-CCP are accused of being idiots, money machines, idiots, CCP alts, CCP fanboys and so on... I don't think anything CCP says will be well-recieved (unless it's a 100% guarantee of non-vanity stuff but eh... absolutes suck).
EDIT: People also asked for an apology and got it with CCP Pann's thread, but of course they demanded an additional apology and aforementioned guarantee.

Ideal would be the CEO himself coming out here, but i verry much doubt he/she have the guts... At this point i'd be happy to see as much as a lowly PR-consultant.

Their twitter accounts make for interesting reading: "yes... it's much better to mine in an industrial when at work, because then it's an hour+ to fill the hold" they're mining at work without a care in the world for us folks ^_^

Whether CCP like it or not, they really should seriously reconsider their business plan and where they think EVE is headed. If they do that, and show their player-base they are prepared to sacrifice a path that will obviously not work in any case, I think that people would listen.
We all recognise what is happening with CCP though - lying corporate egotistical scumbags are in control - and they will never do what needs to be done because that would go against their own personal political agendas.
It makes me sad to see what EVE has become and what it seems to be becoming, but sometimes you just have to accept and prepare to move on. Perpetuum looks interesting...
