I like to take arguments/reasoning/beliefs and test them in different scenarios. My above comment is something I've noticed over the years - that overgeneralized statements can sometimes be applied and used for objectionable practices. That was all.

I used to say the same thing until recently. After reading up and seeing that even today there are countries that have the death penalty for people who are gay, it sure makes it something to celebrate for those who aren't persecuted for being their true selves. Heck, there are still people in the UK who believe that one day there will be a cure for homosexuality. So let them be themselves and let them be proud I say.

You may not be proud to be straight, but you (hopefully) weren't made to feel ashamed of being that way either. Gay pride parades are just a way for gay people to counteract the prejudice that stills exists towards them in society. When its no longer a big deal to be gay for society at large, you probably won't see these events much.

Although I agree with the point, i'm simply saying that people who do not accept peoples sexual preference to be gay have the issue, and that gay people should not have to have a day for it, although I see why they do!
