Edited by: Anita Wu Tang on 26/06/2011 23:34:52 I've read a ton of threads regarding how much Incarna "sucks". I personally love it! yeah so what, they gave us a captains quarters that has nothing fun, you cant even lay on the bed. be happy they gave us anything at all. plus for years players have been crying about being able to walk around on the station, even friends that don't play say,"you cant walk around in the station. lame. why do you even play that?" I'm ready for eve online to change.
Things you will still have that your so happy to keep the same.
1. Still have space flight
2. Still have your overpriced market run by people that have played far longer then you have.
3. Still be waiting months to finish skills
4. Still wait 30 seconds to get into your new ship
5. Still be able to blow people up that have no reason to be blown up
6. Still be able to control the market in Null because you want to become the next tycoon
7. Still be able to run missions with "friends" that don't high five other then /me
8. Still mine the same asteroid belt for hours to make enough to pay your alliance fees so your greedy CEO's can high five each other since you just paid for their PLEX.
Cool things you will soon be able to cry about and things that are awesome your currently crying about.
1. Captains quarters (currently being cried about)
2. Some random team of ps3 players taking over your PI, with a smile.
3. Being able to walk around in station giving everyone high fives
4. Instead of sitting in a hanger for hours spinning your camera around really fast trying to nit pick the video glitches because OH GOD! its CCP's fault you havent updated your computer since 2002 and your GPU's shader can't support the new content. you will now be able to high five people while getting drunk and wasting your time spinning that camera at an online bar.
5. (not sure if this will be in the game but someone i talked to said it might) Possibilities of dust players having planetary doomsday devices blowing the hell out of your POSS (Piece of S*** Station) because your unwilling to accept change in an eve online universe when you were so content with the "Butterfly Effect Sandbox". while not giving high fives to friends at the station you were just blown up in.
6. Firing an orbital barrage of what ever weapon you chose to obliterate those measly ps3 players from your amazing spaceship you took the time to fit out. only to return back to station to relieve your friends with a high five, two thumbs up and a "yeah i just did that" face.
7. Finally coming around to see that CCP did all this for you! Only to ask in return that you spend 15 bucks a month to have fun on a game they didn't have to put out on the market for you to enjoy, you crazy sci-fi fanatics. (/me high fives CCP)
8. Still be able to cry about why Incarna "SUCKS!!" while you sit in an ergonomic chair content with staring at a rock, or literally doing the same mission with a different name over and over again, just to argue that, that is SOOOOOOOO!!! much more appealing then walking around in a station with amazing graphics, or fighting off people on a planet surface.
So a personal shout out to CCP! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! This is going to be SICK AND AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT!
Sometimes you need to lose, in order to gain. Who cares! It's a great game! You know it! Other people know it! There for, more people will know it!
To those who are quitting your subs.
Thank You!!! I'll be ahead of you in the 6 months it takes for you to realize this game has more potential then you thought it to have, and now I'm the one occupying your planets resources "loling manically" over the cash i just raked in when you logged off to changing your panties, because yes kids! CHANGE IS SCARY! (think of the pirate as a ninja.)

1. Still have space flight --- after getting into a ship.. which takes palce after turning off CQ for fear of gfx metldown
2. -irrelevant- ... and besides, I like the market trade etc 3. -irrelevant- 4. see #1 5. -irrelevant- 6. see #2 7. -irrelevant- 8. -irrelevant-
Cool things you will soon be able to cry about and things that are awesome your currently crying about.
1. Captains quarters (currently being cried about) --- I want my 'functional' ship spinning back. double-click cargo ftw.
2. -irrelevant- ... and probably just nonsense 3. Being able to walk around in station giving everyone high fives --- only if I fork out a bunch of cash so i can buy a GFX card that can handle 'incarna', until then.. static background for me.
4. ship spinning = NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT BACK 5. -Nonsense- 6. -yawn- 7. CCP didn't do any of this for me, they did it for the pay-check, simple as that. 8. glad I recently bought an Xbox - re: this whole comment. [read also.. I foresee I'll be playing eve less in the future]
A personal shout out to the massive troll that is OP, you made maybe 4 points of any relevant interest, and the points you did raise are all utter chuff.

erm... maybe i missed something, but incarna isnt the issue people are complaining about. it may have been 3 or 4 days ago, but much larger, more tropical fish, are being fried right now.
incarna actually looks pretty good (if your computer is strong enough to run it) even in its limited state atm, and i cant wait to explore more of the station and meet people face to face instead of ship to ship.
the ton of threads complaining are complaining about the nex store and ccp lying to / misleading / ignoring its customers.
to sumarise: incarna = good. everything else ccp have done in the past few months = bad, v v bad indeed. |

So "INCARNA IS GOING TO BE AMAZING" because "they gave us a captains quarters that has nothing fun, you cant even lay on the bed"? That's one strong argument you have there.

Unfortunately CCP never had the money to make Incarna AwesomeÖ because it was all diluted on other projects at the expense of EVE. And now the golden goose will soon start dying due to anemia. |

INCARNA IS ALREADY HERE, AND IT IS NOT AMAZING. _____ This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change. |

When we can interact it *might* be worthwhile, but it needs a lot of other changes as well.

You may be happy, but the "vets" are here because they want to play internet spaceships in a sandbox. All that time and resources spent to deliver a barely functioning Space Barbie was time that could have been spent improving Eve's core gameplay of internet spaceships in a sandbox.

I like the idea of rolling it out incrementally. They wanted to do better than the existing multiplayer third person engines, which are mostly oriented towards high frame rate shooters. CCP is trying to build an environment in which fancy clothes will actually be useful. Take a look at shooter games like Global Agenda for example - you get to chose some pretty basic outfits, dye them from a range of colours, and wear them on an avatar for which the only customisation is a range of faces and hair styles. World of Warcraft is pretty much in the same boat - pick a race, skin colour, hair style, and off you go. Lots of fancy clothes, many of which are just recoloured versions of the old stuff.
This first release of CQ is here to help "bed in" the technology. What optimisations need to be made? How well does the lighting model work? What network traffic is needed, how much is spurious?
Over time I expect CCP will introduce emote systems, so that you can wave hello, hug someone, poke your tongue out, that kind of thing. The RP folk will be enjoying every minute of it of course, while the srs Internet spaceships folk will be busy pew pewing each other with their new shiny turrets :)
This isn't a "handout" - it's a phased introduction of a new technology. Give CCP a chance to get it done properly - there's some talk about the other race CQs coming out in the next few months.

HA HA HA HA!! You still have to wait 4 or 5 seconds to be able to click anything PLUS you have to wait 30 secodns for dock undock, and that all is there if you ask me because CCP made a jammbled spaghetti code they cannot untangle and they have to have all those double checks and tripple checks about literally everything in game, so as for anything to not be dupped. As time goes by, the code is becoming heavier and heavier for even the simplest tasks and the day, Oh that dreaded day.. is closing more near each time. The day that the whole EVE engine will become obsolete. Let's keep that thought in mind for a second. The EVE game engine that consists of jammbled spaghetti code no one can replace without actualy rewriting or even reinventing the whole game functions from the beggining is becoming obsolete. Maybe this why they adopted another project like WoD. maybe they knew EVE's days were numbered from the get go. |

Actually you are only pay to play the game as is. Most MMOs require you to pay for expansions. CCP decided to go a different route: free expansions, less time between expansions, more experimentation of new ideas.

Free expansions? Like who is charging for continuing making content? By content of those "Expansions" we mean a few 3d models here and there dressed with some textures in some newer shaders and even that is not being made right, if you see how lagy Incarna station interior is. JUST ONE of the four races btw. EVER NOTICED THE BACKGROUND SPACE IS ALWAYS A STATIC BITMAP? FOR A GAME BEING 8 YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT? |

You really ARE behind the curve a bit! Apart from graphic glitches that will be sorted out, but which are causing a degree of hate, the reaction to Incarna is "Yeah, seems OK for what it currently is, which isn't a lot". I have no gripes about Incarna apart from not wanting to have to use it when I just want to get in and out of a station asap.
OK, some players in Eve aren't here to play Space Sims in any way shape or form, so I hope they get the option to leave the station-walking features disabled if that's what they prefer. That way everyone's happy.
Some of the grumblers do have a point about the graphic glitches though. For me, CQ runs OK on a PC that's at least 5 years old (maybe 6), yet players with top-notch gaming systems that can run, say, Crysis II without batting an eye have their PCs "blue screening" just because they enter a room in Eve. You have to agree SOMETHING damn weird is going on there.

So a personal shout out to CCP! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! This is going to be SICK AND AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT!
Got to this bit and realised the 2 month old OP char is either under 18 and living in mommy's basement, or over 30 and living in mommy's basement.
If you believe that people are up in arms about all the points in your epic wall of text then you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Govinda Sertan that would have been EVE II, and World of Darkness and Dust just ate it. Do not expect to see that if they don't rewrite the whole game, something I really doubt they will ever do. |

The game in the state that it is NOW has NO potential whatsoever. The general idea MIGHT have some potential but EVE as it is and the direction it went from brainstorming to implementing etc etc is soon to hit a brick wall. You see you need THREE things for something to have some potential and materialise as an implemenation.
First the Vision. Second the Talent to design, explain the project to a team with the right talent and help to materialise it. Third, FORESIGHT on what you can do and what you cant with what you are creating. |

yeah right 30 seconds AFTER u actually get in station and to a point where u can click things
eve if you remove the CQ its still pretty terrible
are u guys serious ? didnt know its that terrible... i recently bought a new pc, including a SSD , i7 2600k and 8gigs of ram, and its instantly loading... not even a second.. but for u other guys with some older hardware it seems to be annoying... even if im not affected, i feel ccp did something wrong :/

Graphics can be nice, unfortunately they don't make the game. Look at Minecraft for instance. It doesn't have graphics, it has the game play and tons of people play it.
The idea for EVE from what I've seen. Is that it's basically trying to bring real life to a video game, and CCP is only trying to add to that, the game shouldn't just take place in space, but take place in any aspect that applies to real life (I.E. planet conflict and station ambulation.) where possibilities are endless. Which can be fun especially if you put it in a sci-fi universe. Unfortunately it makes the game appeal to a niche market, and limited to people that enjoy a sci-fi MMO experience.
Foresight is limited to the company which CCP has opened up the idea of foresight, by bringing in a team of players to discuss how the game should develop. Unfortunately i believe they lost sight of the big picture when they brought the micro transactions into play. To pay for better stuff doesn't make the game even keeled at all and I'm paying 15 bucks a month to play an even keeled game.
I feel this topics peers have been lead to believe I'm a micro transaction supporter and I'm not. I have merely been saying i support the product EVE online. |
