Edited by: Kikusaku on 27/06/2011 03:09:18 Due to your RMT plan that seems infallible, and the alienation of your oldest playerbase/community. I'm asking you to release to us the source code to Pre-trinity expansion. Here we will be content and will in no way interfere with your new rmt model that ruins the EVE we know and love.
We will be 50 man years of graphic work behind your "NEW EVE", and have no way to compete, as most of your new players will enjoy the shiny graphics and crap you've been feeding us.
But we will be free from your rmt madness...
Hell you can probably even rent us one of your servers, bam you make money from us anyways...
Good luck in the few years ahead you have left.

Theres no way they could do this. NO ONE would play the RMT Eve.
The only way they can SELL itesm for mass cash is if those items have VALUE.
The Established playerbase is SOLELY responsible for their Value.
Established Playerbase leaves, so to does the value of any/all Cash Shop items.

based on the battlefield heroes rmt model whatever that game was called, they lost 2-5% playerbase then they adjusted their rmt items to accomodate the remaining and new players, and it thusly provided like 2x the profits per person.
This trend ccp is following is looking eerily familiar. Most players bought vanity items anyways to make them look"cool" and elite to the other people who were smarter with their cash.
So I doubt they need us 2-5% that leave to keep their NEX trading store open and whatever

I'm not for RMT, but I think you're being astoundingly naive. The only people you see here posting are the most vocal 5% of the player base that actually care to post. The actual majority don't give 3 ****s either way about RMT. Sure, you may lose 10% of the most vocal 5% but this game will survive even if ever vet leaves. Why? Too many players will happily spend their cash to get ahead.
Hell, probably half the vets will stay and "pay to win". Fact is they have too many friends in game and too much invested in it to just walk away, so they won't. The money they'll make off of RMT will dwarf the current subscription take in and when they realize they can go F2P and increase their player base by 500% while increasing their RMT by even more, that's exactly what they'll do.
Also, with vets leaving and corporations collapsing in your scenario, it'll mean more chance to gain a foot in null which too many will be all too happy to do. Once F2P, the influx of nubile capsuleers will create a plethora of fresh and unsuspecting targets for low sec.
You think no one would play the RMT EVE? Think again.

Supported.
First good, new, halfway-intelligent idea I've heard in what feels like forever, I might add.
But, whilst we're dreaming: Move it up to Pre-QR (because I love my MWD'ed frigates), but add W-space and Incursion/Sleeper AI to all NPCs, and eliminate supercaps.

While we're at it, we should get Microsoft to release the source code to XP and Apple to release the OSX 10.1 source code.
Then none of use will ever have to pay for anything again! Brilliant!

This.
Maybe when CCP drops EVE, not before ... THAT would be cool. If you find someone to host the monster on the internet.

That an iteration four years 'behind' the ****show that was Incarna would be a direct competitor says a lot about Incarna, considering the wondrous new age for the game it was supposed to usher in.

EvE will aways be a niche product and only appeal to a tiny segment of the MMO market. Dumb it down, introduce P2Win, hell, even make it F2P, and you won't increase the player base, at least not substantially.
EvE is not a kiddie shooter like EA's games. It's more like SWG, which went belly up after SOE tried to increase its mass-appeal.
