Damage to the economy is already showing, bad PR combined with the old Eve learning curve steamrolls new players, gaming communities see the protest as shameful nerd rage and over-reactionary policies.
CCP may want to change quite a bit in the game, but you protesters, you're not changing it, you're killing it.

way too late to stop it. ccp should have immediately responded with a clearer statement of intent in regards to this. Had they done that, this might have been avoided. But once this hit the media, like me hearing about it from the one friend I have in rl who doesnt even play mmos? That is when it was over.
I would not be surprised if competitors were already fielding offers to buy ccp out. <---- When that happens, I'm done.

I also played within the rules in the game world, to orbit a station and fire at it. At no point did I spam the chat channels or do anything against the rules.
Deal with it.

no, ccp did this by lying and stalling. perhaps in a years time when they decide to go full microtransactions on our ass and drop the subs, you may realize this. i get the feeling we have just been sold down the river they are just fighting for what we love, nothing more, nothing less and i applaud them. |

Microtransactions are excellent for CCP's bottom line. The player economy is a different story.

It's not against the rules to orbit a the station or fire at it; however, if you were a part of a protest, shooting the monument, deploying tons of scan probes, jettisoning a lot of containers, with the sole intention of causing others lag, you were breaking the rules.
Originally by: ToS Rule #16 You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules. This includes, but is not limited to, making inappropriate use of any public channels within the game and/or intentionally creating excessive latency (lag) by dumping cargo containers, corpses or other items in the game world.
If they wanted to protest peacefully, they would unsubscribe, log off, express their view on the forums, and be done with it.
