thats what I would have said, check drivers, not just from microsoft, but from nvidia, heres a note... get the latest CERTIFIED drivers, not the very newest ones, ones that as MS Certified have always seemed to work smoother with eve.

I have a few troubleshooting things you could try
Deleting your game cache:
1: Open C Drive ( Or What ever is your main Hard Disk Storage) 2: Program Files 3: CCP 4: EVE 5: Cache 4: Now either you can delete what you want here without effecting your ingame play, i suggest u delete everything, apart from Settings tab and Eve Patches. 5: Boot eve up should run smoother with less Crashes
Secondly:
Vist Nvidia Home page Homepage
Then Click on the Download Drivers Tab
Then from the table box Select
Graphics Drivers ---> Geforce & TNT2 --> Followed By your operating system,
it should then provide you with the must up2date Graphics Drivers.
I Suggest you try both for optimal chance of sucsess.

Speeds ingame performance up.
Downfall is that u lose all your Saved Character Screens
EG: Spinal would now show up black picture.. instead of seeing my face
safe alot of loging time and CPU lag

Have you only recently started eve and has it always been this way OR have you been playing eve for some time and these problems have only started recently?

I can't help you with your problem, but I'll tell you my experiences.
A few weeks ago I was having kind of the same problem. Very frequent CTD's, lag issues (clicking on pilot icons in EVE was causing major lag), ...but also .wmv movies crashing my computer.
I had tried everything, even formating my hard drive and reinstalling windows. In the end it appeared that my videocard was broken, even though it was still "working". It seemed like some functions were no longer working as they should.
A new videocard fixed all my problems.
As I said, I can't help you. It's just something to consider...

might be some damaged RAM, in your first post you said you had a gig, but the dxdiag only shows 768M. i'd suggest finding the offending stick and disable it/take it out. if that helps you then buy a replacement one. ----------------------------------------------

try this...
C: > Program files > CCP > Eve folder > cache folder > then double click on the prefs.ini thingy and change buffersize=(what ever # is here) to buffersize=(half of your RAM). Then try changing audio=1 to audio=0.

just wondering...
do your cap show correct values ? or is it like 50% or more then it says its dry ? do your shield show correct values or do you get armour damage when you still have shield ?
those are my problems, and they started like 3 weeks ago now... makes eve a production/market simulation for me atm

I used to have the same exact problems for a lot of time. Today it seems better, as I can run 2 accounts at the same time, running both in 1024*768, and I seldom have a crash every 30 minutes.
I've : AMD Athlon 2200+ @ 1800Mhz 3*256 drram @ 133Mhz GeForce 4 Ti4200 128Mb 2*maxtor 80Gb 2Mb cache 7200 rpm Asus A7N266-e motherboard, with nforce 420D chip (old, yes)
What I've did : -removed one of the ram (now I work on 2*256) -complete cleaning (dust, format and repartitionning, reinstallation XP SP2 pro, updates) -installed some tweaking applications (freshUI, cacheman XP, speedfan) -installed latest Bios (beta one for me, but it works better than the previous) throught my bios update application throught windows (backup previous to restore in case of problem) -installed latest drivers -games are on a separate drive
Hope this helps... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

I noticed that. Ill get a big spike (of lag) and I will keep on firing and still have great shields and great armor and then it unlaggs and i have shields and like no armor. But I also notice frequently i have full shields and armor damage. Ohhw well I guess that this just aint my game. *Sobs on the way to cancel acount button*

tried all the tips in here too.. no luck. undocked in a rifter, and activate mwd.. looks ok awhile, then I get you do not have enough power and cap says 70%...
frustrating

Delete everything in the cache folder except prefs.ini and settings folder. Should be like 10 files/folders. This way you won't delete your bookmarks or settings.
