In an attempt to simplify the main problem with the AUR market for anything other than vanity items here goes:
Its about the player market--items bought with a plex are created by the players in the main --items bought of the AUR market are created by CCP--so if ships and modules are available on the AUR market then the whole isk player economy is bypassed---CCP becomes a competitor with player based economy
If sps are avaible on the AUR market this competes with the character bazaar
Its about player imput with the character bazaar- selling nyx's --a player has had to spend the time and effort to create that character or ship even if it is bought ultimately with RMT via plex --with AUR it has items that simply appear by magic

It is duplicate code. CCP needs to maintain a code base for two currencies and with each patch do they need to make quality tests of the new currency system as well as the old one. This on its own is a redundancy, born out of the idea that CCP now gets some extra cash and that this justifies such "software luxury". Fact however is that it is as vain as the items they are selling with Aurum.
The development and maintenance of the Noble Exchange, the Aurum system and the vanity items will possibly cost CCP more than they will gain from it.

You don't need to make a complex rational argument when you pay the bills. If you go to a restaurant and order stake you don't need to make a long argument about why you shouldn't get a salad instead. You get what you pay for.
Also don't redirect the argument into 'vanity only' is OK. It ain't.
