Edited by: J Kunjeh on 28/06/2011 13:39:21 I absolutely would. I love Eve (duh) and I'm more than thrilled for both Dust514 and WoD.
Edit: but that doesn't mean I think they have their affairs in order. But I believe enough in CCP to fix their problems that I'd invest in a heartbeat. ~Gnosis~ |

If I could get 51% you bet! Owning a big company could be fun. Especially the one that is doing EVE.

I would which is why I'd suggested the idea of selling private stock options via aurum. Hell could even tie vanity items to share ownership.

Cmon ppl - seriously
Would you invest?
No, mostly due to the stated here: http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/CCP-Games-Reviews-E159347.htm
If the CEO and Senior Management where to be changed, or someone was hired to make a corp out of their frat house, and delayed the develoment of either Dust or WoD, then maybe.
Otherwise it looks to me like they are not good at managing their resources, focusing their efforts and prioritizing. Aimless corp is aimless.

I just hope your bank isnt still basing its funding in Iceland
Our local bank have most of the country as customers, and are doing very well (and was barely affected by the international financial crisis).
It's well worth whatever the shares cost.

Edited by: Benilopax on 28/06/2011 16:12:48 I would consider investing, I think despite the shaky ground CCP may be on they will definitely pay off from WoD when it comes out and dust is an exciting concept I support so would want to encourage that.

build as a stock company - why not - so every stock paper for X $/Ç and so on .... and only for spending money for survival the plattform / company.
No profit sharing for the stock holders, but sometimes some voting for the next steps.

Sorry guys, as a Series 7 Registered Rep I can tell you CCP could not do a private placement of stock with the community, at least as far as Americans are concerned. I assume the EU has similar rules which would make it impossible to sell to most everyone else without an IPO which takes months of planning to do legally.

Certainly I want to be a share holder of CCP corporation, but I want to see results!
Not in the kind of money, but in the kind of a hybrid gun and faction warfare fix!

If I could afford them, yes.
My first reaction to the news that CCP might go under and we lose Eve was "Well, make the players shareholders!"

But it looks like CCP have invested so much Money, time and Effort its too late to turn back.
As for World of Darkness, tbh its a vamp game and I have a feeling that will probably do well if they can release it soonish, the market for that stuff at present is full on. Just look at the TV schedules.
Interesting times ahead.

Originally by: Klandi As we can see by the financial reports, CCP need a certain amount of capital and one of the ways of raising money is to sell stock.
Would you consider investing in Eve (with CCP?)
Would CCP consider privately selling stock? (if that can be done)
Don't know how viable this idea is, but I enjoy being part of the solution rather than a contributor to the problem ...
Poor business decisions point to this being an unwise investment.
WoD is likely to be lackluster, with DUST not too far behind. EVE is getting bad press while CCP themselves are made to look like fools.
Relying on new loans with such a big potential for product failure means I may want to wait until the products fail, the dust settles, and if CCP is still around, invest THEN and ride the value as they self-correct. They'll be forced to return to their roots, boost EVE and whatever surviving product, and will see a decent return on my investment if I get in from that anticipated low water mark.

CCP has only one valuable asset in their financial report, their code. But code is only worth what someone is paying for it, so in reality they have only one other "asset": The trust of their players. And that is what they decided to burn.
- a full public japanese-style exposing apology by Hilmar during the CSM meeting (via live stream) with an non-BS explanation which mistakes they had done (to make sure they understand). - a better plan how to develop and publish Dust, how not to drop WoD completely and still invest more ressources into polishing EVE.
and we can talk business.

On what percentage of stocks would we have a saying in anything? We (players) buy stocks, give them new money to fund Dust and WoFail and corp doesn't get restructured, so the joke is on us. If we bought a big share of holds, meaning some part of controlling package, than and only then we could influence the inside workings and structuring.
Would you invest in a company where a spokesman says "i have 1000$ pants, so F you poor people", if i cant get a 51% share and fire people i want left and right for being acting like *******s i dont wanna give them any money.

Definitly.
With the money, there comes more power. Also, i would never want them to close the game.
It's way too unique to let it die.

I certainly would. I think CCP is a solid company with a bright future and so it would be a genuine investment rather than a charitable or fan donation. It's also an ethical investment.
My concern would be that shareholders' meetings might turn into a CSM for rich fans. Frothing hardcore fans ranting at you to fix lag is one thing, but when they are actually your bosses technically it might be a little harder to bear.

There are different types of shares. This is determined by a company choosing to make a public offering of shares and of course is a factor in the value of the shares.
Essentially there are voting and non-voting shares. If CCP have any sense at all they will release non-voting shares to the fanbase. Otherwise it puts a new complexion on pay to win - a fan could buy 51% of the shares and then ban everyone in Goonswarm or something. Non-voting shares are a slice of ownership of the assets of a company and pay dividends. Depending on how it is set up you would also be entitled to attend shareholders meetings.
If they offer voting shares to the general public I imagine they would be in for a very rough time. Even if a majority of shares is owned by the original shareholders eventually those shares will get sold and someone could start collecting them up in a hostile takeover bid. That would allow anything including shutting down the company - if you take over it's your company to do as you wish with.
