Seems to me the options for character creation are somewhat limited. For instance:
1) Skin tones. I wanted to make a more realistic looking toon of apparent African descent. However, the skin tones do not go very dark. Darkest they go is what I would consider a "medium" skin tone for that race.
2) Body types - would be nice if the allowed more out of shape toons. Sickly skinny and grossly obese ends of the spectrum would be nice. I would imagine spending most of ones time in a pod could lead to some health issues...
3) hairstyles - at least the men's ones, are lacking. You have black toons, but no "natural" (ie: an afro) hair style is available for them? or how about maybe a flat top? or a DA? or maybe even a mullet?

2) body types are art intensive to produce - especially if you want them to look 'good' as you will need to ensure that all of your customisation functions correctly with all of your possible body types - also for very extreme body shapes (grossly fat for example) you'd require extra animation. Other than the cost to produce all that there's also the performance hit you'd take for having it all sat in memory.
That said I'd love to have grossly fat Barron Harkkonen style pod pilots (haha gravity harness anyone?).
Body types are probably something that a significant number of people would want to express a willingness to pay for, the same goes for extra animation sets to support/enhance them ('silly fat man dance' emote I hear you say?).
Hairstyles are almost certainly something that an art team are even now badgering away at ready for MTX v2.0
