they dont have to wipe the forums to hide this, they will just do what they do with the new forums what they did with their last attempt at a new forum, they simply make it impossible to see the coad forums unless you are signed in that way their prospective customers dont see the issues or problems with the game until after they have paid for it. great feature dont you think??

Originally by: Runa Sigrun ... So with everything going on will ccp ever recover from the latest PR issues, what do you all think?
honestly I think they may but it will take a while, right now I am just sick of all the moaning and whining that is taking place. (keeping in mind these people are only a small minority but some of the most active forms users it seems)
While I'm disgusted with the way things have turned out up until the CSM thing was announced, I think they will recover. They will no doubt loose some players but that will hardly be noticeable over time.
The moaning and whining was, for a change, valid IMHO. It pushed CCP into realising what a mess they made and now I hope that something is being done - at least to address concerns.
We wait and see...

Originally by: Atreus Venom unless CSM's grow some balls and remember which side they are on EvE is already dead
unfortunately the CSM has little effect on what CCP does, if they agree with CCP on a particular topic CCP totes it as a wonderful step foward in cooperation, if they disagree with CCP, CCP promptly ignores them and does what ever the **** they want anyway.

Eve has survived major design screw ups, it will survive these PR issues.
A vocal minority may like to invoke major game failures of the past in an attempt to get their own way. Kind of like a spoiled child tbh.
CCP caving to this display will only reinforce this behavior and make it more likely in the future for less valid reasons. They have to draw the line somewhere, just like any parent would.

Even companies make mistakes,
ok 3 things,
1) no they don't make a popular game, they have 300k subscribers according to them, though given the real person to alt ratio who knows how many ppl really play, safe to say its less than 500k, that isnt popular not by a long shot call of duty has just over 5 million last i played, and blizzard had more than 10 million at its height. those are popular games, a player base of 300k is just a drop in the bucket of online gaming
2) yes companies make mistakes all the time, and most of them in the self interest of survival do everything they can to KEEP paying customers, they dont laugh and tell them they just dont get it.
3) post with your dev main.

Oh I am sure those ppl will get offended too, eventually. With CCP like this, it's just a matter of time.
Also, don't underestimate the power and resilience of bad reputation. Rumors were destroying games in the past, and will continue to do so in future.

i know it may be hard for some of you younger people to understand but investing years into this game & believing in a company only to be betrayed is not something you recover from.
Actually you are one of the younger people 2010/02/08.
You weren't around for most of the big crisis's and broken promises and you don't know about them.
Why?
Because there is always another one and the last is forgotten. Something could come up tomorrow that would wipe this whole overblown fiasco from our collective radar as we go on a rampage for the next be crisis.
Like I said, I give this a week. Maybe two. No one will have quit. They never do. And there will be some new EVE is dying drama taking up the boards.
You and I may even be on the same side for the next one
Mr Epeen
Actually I was talking about my real life age :)
as for the age of this character, it's my 3 rd account. I've been playing EvE on and off since 2006.
edit; you're just trying too hard dude, nobody is buying it. What's it to you anyway? Are you really dedicating this much of your life just to troll people? get a job dude. even idiots can find work somewhere, the world needs ditch diggers too you know

About the OMG LEAKED EVIL PLANZZZZ!!!!: Did you ever read the WikiLeaks embassy cables?
Wonder why people didn't act like idiots (politicians are arguable idiots to start with so not a fair phrasing, but you get the idea) in the same way as here in Eve? Because everyone with half a brain knew the origin of the documents and thus read them in that light.
CCP themselves only made two mistakes: They made Incarna look like the second coming which it most certainly is not .. no real addition to Eve other than some spruced up graphics. They introduced the NeX store with high-end items only (plan is all price points, remember?), completely ignoring common sense and millennia of human business experience.
In short: There is no PR blunder to recover from.

"vocal minority" is bull****. Not one person I spoke with agreed with CCP's actions, from old players to new players to people who don't even play.
Keep in mind, intelligent people are the minority, just because the masses don't take the time to understand the issue doesn't make them right.

No, I drink moderately. Usually in the weekends with nice dinner and candle light (it's hard now in the summer) and so on. So no, I can't say I'm sick from wine. I also don't see how your suggested solution would help if I was.
The whining on the other hand, by overly bitter people who have low tollerance on ****ups and no RL, are getting harder stand. Your solution doesn't suit me though.

They will recover in the sense, that as time passes this incident isn't going to stay on peoples minds and new people are propably initially unaware of it. So after a few months and in normal circumstances it's not going to be a big issue.
They won't get over it in the sense, that no matter what the future brings people will bring it up with any major CCP blunder from now on, it's another straw towards breaking the camel's back for most current players who choose to stay, the ones who already left or will leave are going to spread their negativity towards CCP and it's going to be one of the few things total outsiders know about CCP. So it's going to haunt CCP for the foreseeable future no matter the outcome of the CSM meeting. The meeting is basicly just damage control and only decides how bad the final affects will get.

You think this was a PR failure?
I beg you to think again.
Eve made news. Rioting in Jita was a PR's dream. All of your moaning and whining brushed back Eve's greatest threat, player stagnation and disinterest. You're all on fire now, probably more engaged in Eve and more connected to your Eve-based friendships than ever before. Why? You have something in common to whine about, to suffer through.
And micro transactions destroying Eve? On the contrary. CCP's (absurdly?) overpriced monocle holds consumer value as a status symbol, stoking the fires of your ire in an abstactly virtual reflection of class distinction. Whether it was intended as such or not, the monocle's purpose as a high end money sink is fulfilling it's purpose.
Look around you at all the games coming out. Free to play is the new buzz word. Micro transactions fuel this new paradigm. Eve, an 8 year old game, is in the throes of a fundamental evolution to meet the changing tides. Who are any of us to dictate CCP's business strategy? I challenge anyone to argue that they have the correct perspective (as a consumer) or the full facts to do so.
