Hello there. I'm pretty new to the forums. Got a little dilemma atm.
I am casually exploring the northern regions of nullsec and i come across to many exploration/plexing ships. Mostly tengus.
The ones that fly solo usually jump to safe spots and cloak the second they see combat probes on dscan.
But there are some that dualbox 2x tengus that just stay there knowing i dont have the dps nor the tank to take out both ships.
My question is : What ship should i use to be able to get those ships? I can fly almost anything caldari, amarr, matar , just not gallente. T3's included. I fly solo.
The targets are exploring in guristas space so they are Kin/Th tanked and sometimes they have combat configs with 6 launchers.
I would need to tank 2 x 600 kin dps or lesser amounts of other kinds. Do EM dmg mostly, since even with adaptive shielding sub, it's the lowest resist on tengu ( or Exp dmg but it's more tanked) Be fast enough so they don't AB out of scram/web range
I've thought of lots of scenarios/ships to do the job, including Black Ops bs's but i'd rather seek advice from you seasoned combatants since i'm not much of a pvp-er myself.

Get a friend. You need more DPS. I fly dual web loki and in most cases I just avoid shooting tengus. Almost impossible to kill its tank solo. If tengu pilot is smart, he omnitanks his ship. Low sec plexes arent that difficult and with 2 tengus together, he does not need to be gurista tanked. |

A brawling XL-ASB sleipnir should get the job done very well and is cheap compared to some other options (pimped active vindi or something like that). As you know that they will most likely be dealing kinetic damage, some of the gallente t2 options might be a good idea. A proteus or astarte might do it, or maybe even a deimos. You will want to pimp them however, and in addition to that the kin/therm tank of the tengus might be a problem for blasters, therefore I would probably go with the cheaper option of the sleipnir. |

You could try a Neut Legion, and just hope that by neuting one/both of them down, the rats would be able to finish them off. A pilgrim or curse is probably too fragile to tank the DPS while the neuts work, but if you had a buddy in a DPS Legion/Absolution/Sleipnir, you would probably make short work of them. |

If the Tengu is in a PLEX, chances are you won't be able to catch him. If you are able to catch him a smart PLEXer will start popping triggers while aligned out, forcing NPC spawns that will melt you in seconds as he knows that he can tank them longer than you. So you need to be quick, you need to be sneaky and you need alpha.
The best. most deadly set-up I've seen is an Arazu / Panther combo. You pre-scan the sites while your Panther sits outside the system but within Cyno range. When your victim springs the trap and warps into the PLEX, your Arazu fires the covert cyno outside the initial warp gate and jumps in to grab tackle. The Panther, or other BLOPs, jumps to the cyno once the tackle is made and, within a volley or two, the alpha of the Panther should have no problem overwhelming the tank of the Tengu.
I've also seen a Covert Tengu / Tornado combo work to great effect with the Covert Tengu doing the leg-work and holding tackle long enough for the Tornado to jump in from a neighboring system or a safe before finishing off the prey.

I think the Loki and Legion are the hard counters to Tengu. Getting you on your feet.

Comprehension fail.
OP isn't asking simply what ship will "shred a Tengu". There are dozens of answers, including your Hurricane, that would fit that bill. No Tengu pilot is dumb enough to sit in a PLEX while a Hurricane moves in on D-scan, and the moment that Hurricane lands in the PLEX, 99% of all Tengu pilots will have warped off. Try reading the OP again, assuming you did so in the first place, then come back to us. |

Hello guys. Thx ton for all the answers. Lots of usefull info in there.
But my problem is not with single pve Tengus. Those i kill with my pvp fit Tengu.
It's with the guys dualboxing tengus. Two of those ships deal way to much dps for me to be able to get one of them killed. |

Honstely the best way to address this problem is to do a solo black ops drop. Preferably in a Redeemer that can do 1200dps EM without breaking a sweat.
For your covert cyno its best to use a bomber, preferably a manticore with 2 MSE for better tank. Your covert cyno bomber needs to have a T2 long point, since a scram will not effect a tengu. Your best bet is to find them on d scan doing an anom, warp to that anom at range and slowboat cloaked (while avoiding wrecks to decloak you) until you get inside 10km. Then you decloak instalock, overheat your point and jump the deemer in with point/web.
will look something like this: http://killboard.nullisecunda.com/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=113841 (yes I lost my bomber cyno lol)
Lows on the Deemer are pretty self explanitory, however, for the med slots you should use Heavy Cap Booster, Faction Web, Longpoint, and 100mn MWD. Highs are cloak, Heavy Neut, and 6 Mega Pulse laser II.

Sleip is actually a horrible choice since it cannot cloak. Most of the time a kiting 10mn AB tengu will be zooming around the plex doing 500 m/s. And when you warp to that plex you arent garunteed to land in point range, it almost never happens. So he sees you land in the anom 40km off him and he warps off laughing. -1 |

This comment is just laughable. I almost didnt want to comment, but the tengu pilot will take the aggro of the triggers, unless you try to jump him the moment the rats spawn, which would be a horrible horrible idea. You let him trigger next spawn, wait for aggro then decloak and get to business. |

First off Arazu's are not good for this as they have a 6 second decloak delay and anyone paying half attention will be gone before you can wait out those 6 secs + your lock time. In fact an arazu is so slow cloaked its almost impossible to catch an abing tengu going in a random direction. A properly fit bomber not only instalocks, it also can go twice as fast cloaked if fit right. @facepalm |

You should have done yourself a favor and just not commented.
Like I said, the smart PLEXer will know each and every trigger in the PLEX as there is often more than one trigger and more than one wave. Whereas, a ganker having that same knowledge and knowing to decloak in time to those triggers is highly unlikely. When/if somebody decloaks inside that PLEX, the smart PLEXer will start popping those triggers as, chances are, he is well equipped to tank them whereas whatever just decloaked to tackle him is not. It's quite simple, really. |

Arazu and it's cloaky Recon brethren are amazingly well equipped for catching site runners, while bombers get face-raped by Tengus. That's common knowledge that you seem to be ignoring or are obliviously unaware of. Recons can easily be tanked to hang onto the Tengu A LOT longer than a Bomber could ever dream of. And the difference in speed between a cloaked Recon and a cloaked Bomber is about 60m/s, hardly the "twice as fast" as you claim.
The fact is, your random, uncited disagreement notwithstanding, the tactic I described involving a Recon + BLOPs is very, very effective when executed properly though, admittedly, a Falcon would work better in place of the Arazu simply for the safety it provides to your tackle and against potential traps.
If you feel like doing a little research so you can spout of with something intelligent next time, look up the pilot "Kerjin" or his Falcon alt "Sh1tbird" on Eve-kill or Battleclinic. He's been using this exact tactic for years and hasn't lost a ship while doing it since 2011 despite being close to the Top 100 on Battleclinic. So yes, as I said, it works. |

It was saved as a ship fitting >>"Nerf-Bat" Forget the stats, I think it was a cruise missile that did 1000 damage of each type, had high hull hit points with 99% resists, and a small explosion radius.
That certainly would take down a pair of tengu's |
