The statement should have been released before you all went barhopping tonight.
Because our CSM delegates are qualified to act as translators. SLACKERS!!!
if you play EVE ONLINE you must able to read and speak ENGLISH (also if you arent native). We dont care about localization in german and russian, we dont care about video of mittens and zulu doing a 69.
We is actually just you, and that's something I don't care about. As long as there's morons like you eve will pull trough no matter what.

Is Kendra mocking? I'm having a hard time telling. Because, really, there are surely a large player base who play the game, and read the blogs, in German or Russian only, if they bother to have those language options in the game at all. ---- "Sounds like a bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me."

Because, like thousands of other players, I'm not 100 percent certain where EVE is headed or whether what CCP says can be taken at face value. And if CCP does end up going ahead with MT plans, I'll have to wait and see exactly what they have in mind to see whether I can live with the changes or not.
So I will wait and listen to what they have to say.

Vandrion, I think you have it exactly right :
Quote:
Dev Blog/Statement:
It is very easy to answer either yes or no.... That is not the answer we are going to get. CCP's answer will be BOTH yes and no.
Here is the NO:
No we won't see WTFBBQPWN Jovian BS that can take down PL's entire SC fleet solo No we won't see ammo that gives 5000% bonus to damage and hits for wrecking damage every time No we won't see mods that give you a 99% bonus to resist
In other words the NO means we won't get super obvious game breakers....
Here is the YES:
Yes we will be able to buy faction standings Yes we will see ammo that gives you a slight bonus to damage or cap usage Yes we will see faction towers reintroduced via the Nex Yes we will see attribute boosters and skill enhancers like Quafe Zero
Now you see why it is taking time to make the statement... CCP has to spin it in an acceptable manner so 50% of the subscribers don't rage quit.....
I see it exactly that way, it's a compromise that will make some of the people happy, some of the time. However, a good deal of people will not be able to come to terms with the compromise and that is when the fit is going to hit the shan.
Cheers, Thorn Galen.

Why is it so hard to release a yes or no statement? Because they know we don't want to hear the answer so they have to figure out a way to make us swallow it.
The way I see it is that CCP is convinced that MT (and yes that absolutely means pay to win) is the way to go, on top of subscriptions and with very high real currency prices. They likely have graphs and charts and data galore from other games indicating that more money can be made that way, despite subscriber churn. CCP probably has data from within Eve itself that can be spun to show that no matter what we all might think, we really all want MT.
Will there be non-vanity MT? - yes Will we get always optional CQ? - no Will we get ship spinning (and right click menu access to ship functions)? - no Will there be fixes to current issues and continuing development work on Eve? - yes, but slower than the pace you are used to. Will revenue from Eve players be diverted to work on projects that will in no way benefit Eve players? - absolutely Will the prices of NeX items be brought down to where a majority of Eve players can buy them? - no
These are the answers we will get, the tricky part is CSM helping CCP figure out a way to tell them to us without so many of us leaving that the remainder of the game is no longer fun to play for the paying customers - which isn't us. Pay to win players have to have people to win against, or they just leave without spending all they have.
I think CCP will never consider any other answers because they care more about potential future revenue than current paying players. I for one am willing to pay double my current subscription rate, but I don't think that has ever been considered let alone discussed. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are |

To the guy who wrote that, we are freaking out now because it hasn't been implemented just to give CCP a taste of what would come AFTER it is implemented, and give them some pause. They already lost at least $75k a month of income with the guys who have left already. Just imagine how much worse it will be when they actually would implement it? I certainly don't see them making more than $75k a month from the NeX store, which means they already have a net loss of income on top of the development costs that they wasted into this.

Worth thinking about, twice even, when you rage at a CSM which in spite of its self inflicted powerless start did pick up the gauntlet when it was thrown.
Truth be told, it's remarkable. They went there, at short notice, across timezones, and did the equivalent of a high level consultancy job
Now, flame away
They were late off the jump. Practically dragged into the fracas because people started to question their leadership.
Also - you make it sound like they personally built a boat and sailed to Iceland, appearing unannounced and angry!
I don't think a coach class ticket and scheduled dining counts as a rough time. Hence, the super rage.
CSM = That dog won't hunt.

Do you have a point other than the fact that the CSM got to fly somewhere and get fed while you didn't?

I don't think the CSM is ****ing off, really. I think they have lost the sense of urgency the rest of us are still feeling to get this resolved so we can move on. I don't know where all these nonsense accusations and assumptions are coming from...did you expect them to sit in their rooms with their hands folded neatly in their laps all damn night? They took time out of their schedule to go do this and everybody's jumping off the deep end without really knowing anything.
That said...This wait is INTOLERABLE but it might have been made somewhat tolerable if you'd have just told us WHEN to expect the statement!
I'd also like to say that no matter how you personally feel about Game Changing MT - I feel like every time someone relents to the notion that it's a given at this point and we just have to wait and see how bad it is is like a nail in the coffin. I can see CCP now, "Oh look...there's another person we've already gotten to accept it...see...they're swallowing it...we just had to wait them out!"
I DO NOT accept this as a given and nobody else should either.
I'll wait and see like everybody else but what the hell choice do we have?

You want clear statements. Clear statements take a little extra time. I know you are all anxious to hear the results, but please cut the CSM (and CCP) a little slack here.

LOL - this tells you the CSM's stance already "Communication Errors"
They are NOT communication errors - and we all know it. *CCP diverts funds from fixing EVE issues for the last two years to fund other development projects *CCP uses funds from our subs to put new shiney's in despite the communities request to NOT ad them anymore, and to fix old issues - why? to get more subs for more revenue *CCP is going broke spending all of its cash on other projects so they can have yet more revenue streams b/c apparently EVE isnt good enough for them *CCP calls the EVE player base a "Golden Goose" - like we're some love struck sugar daddy that will perpetually pay CCP's bills while they roll out one load of crap after another to us that WE DONT WANT *CCP doesnt listen to their player base and makes CQ Mandatory so that we can play their MT game *CCP has clearly indicated that they want MORE REVENUE from their golden goose so they can pay for other projects, and charge $1000 for a pair of Jeans and $70 for a pair of Monocoles, and then Zulu has the Audicity to tell the players that WE have the issue
WTF Is wrong with you CSM? That isnt a communication problem, that is CLEARLY an attitude problem in the company and POOR leadership!

You see, Trebor, this is why we don't trust you and why so many people are referring to the CSM as a joke. You're either intentionally misrepresenting the entire situation or truly are clueless about how the community actually feels. So let's clarify it: We're not ****ed off because CCP failed to clearly communicate its plans for EVE to us. On the contrary, we have a very clear understanding of where CCP is headed and have already seen part of it with our own eyes with the release of Incarna.
Sorry, Trebor, but this is not just a big misunderstanding. Not by a long shot. A very significant portion of EVE players are fundamentally opposed to where CCP wants to take EVE, and we have no intention of being fleeced to pay for it. CCP's behavior has been appalling, if not entirely unexpected. But the response of the CSM has been slow, disorganized, and generally somewhat clueless. Many of us had hoped that would not be the case.
Unfortunately, the general consensus is that the CSM members have become willing participants in CCP's MT-fuelled dog and pony show. So no, we don't trust you. And no, your big 'joint statement' is not going to be taken at face value. It's going to be treated with the same skepticism with which many players have now learned to treat everything produced by CCP.
A little less frat boy partying and a little more attention to effective communication with the community might done wonders to change the perception of the CSM. The community's united response over the last week provided you and your fellow CSM members with a golden opportunity to finally push for a serious revision of CCP's long-term development roadmap. Instead, we've seen nothing but stalling and bragging about hangovers and partying with the devs.
come on everyone repost this
