And no I most certainly do not mean CCP or the Collaborator Council.
I am talking of course, of whomever it was that leaked the truth from CCP into the media. We may never know who you are, but I for one wish to thank you. I am sure it was a difficult decision to let down your friends in order to release the information.
May I console you in that anyone who would expect you to keep such information secret is no friend any decent person should wish to have.
Long may your actions be remembered amongst those who seek to beguile us.

Leaked the truth? More like spread fear, uncertainty and doubt over leaked internal discussions taken completely out of context. CCP's official stance never changed, non-vanity items were never on the table. The leaked documents achieved nothing but to damage the relationship between CCP and it's customers. I hope whoever leaked the documents is fired and has charged pressed against them.

We can only hope not and let us not forget Iceland has made moves for the protection of whistleblowers.
You are right of course, that what was on the table before the CSM summit and what is on the table after the summit is exactly the same.
That is not a good thing however, and you would do well to not wallow in your ignorance. Its warm and squidgy at first, but it soon becomes cold and sticky.

+1 thanks here.
If it wasn't for him/her there's a good chance I could've been still giving CCP the benefit of the doubt even after the last "expansion" train wrecks. May good fortune and a prosper life reward that person. |

You're wrong again.
What clearly happened here is CCP had to fold and rethink their plans after they saw the number of players complaining and unsubbing. We, the players who actually think instead of believing anything CCP says like it's the word of God, have actually CHANGED something. And we are very happy about this. Of course you're never going to accept that, and that's too bad, but believe me, that doesn't change anything at all.
Oh, and you're welcome.

CCP very well could STILL sell Ships, Ammo, anything, everything, for IRL cash and it WOULD NOT contradict ANYTHING theyve said.
All they have to do is not sell it via NEX, make sure you can acquire the same items via in game time, and don't call them ehancements.
So if they decided to sell Drakes off the website tomorrow for $20, they would not have contradicted ANYTHING theyve said. at all.
p.s. The Ship Spinning though, i think, is a fair compromise. I think its in the same light as the Non-vanity items though. And i think they are still going to remove the option entirely and force everyone to CQ. But at least we know we will have the option for the immediate future. i.e. at least until all our subs expire.

Let's assume for one second that your right and that CCP did intend everything that the leaked newsletter suggested. Don't you think the players would have caused a similar **** storm when they tried to implement it? Or even the first time it was mentioned in a dev blog? If that had been the case there would have been even more player opposition, I for one would have been right with the rest of the protesters. As it was, the only thing protested was speculation and hearsay. We can't say for sure that anything was achieved because we don't KNOW that CCP's intentions were anything other than what they have told us.
The only thing the leaked document did was undermine the entire process.

I don't buy for a second that non-vanity MT wasn't planned. This episode has shown there are drivers within CCP's upper management who would put Eve onto the rocks for the sake of some easy revenue. The whistleblower is an hero, hopefully he's not locked up in CCPs basement without food or water

The only thing the leaked document did was undermine the entire process.
So, assuming that CCP indeed was planning on doing what Fearless outlined, we avoided an even bigger dissaster by getting a heads up and voicing out our complains early. On the other hand, lets assume Fearless didn't exists and no plans for non-vanity items were ever discussed. We voiced our opinions and made sure these ideas will never be in their minds...
Either way, the game won. The only difference is that some of us were proactive about protecting something we care about, and others filled the forum with their compacent, pessimistic and outright snob attitude. I'm proud to be in the proactive side.

Ok, before we toss this whole CSM meeting out as if it wasn't fruitful and CCP is lying to us again etc etc, can we at least wait to see what happens before we bring out the pitchforks?

There was no truth uncovered...just some people spreading fear among the player base over some internal document that had no bearing on the game of EVE.

To those that say there was no "truth" - the only other scenario would be that CCP intentionally released the Email and pretended that it was a leak... with the intention of creating the outcry. Is that really a better scenario?
