In various threads both here and over on failheap I see repeated references to :18 months: again and again. Was this some sort of plan for the direction that expansions should be taking, or some sort of official/unofficial CCP policy?
Thanks for any help!

a while back CCP said they'd stop working on new features and focus on hammering out bugs and flesh out some of the existing features, in "18 months"
or, at least i think that's what its referring to

Some remarks CCP made about them focusing on Incarna "for the next 18 months" or thereabouts, after which they were supposed to refocus on the "spaceships" part. _

I think that 18 months is the next time we're supposed to see any new spaceship content in Eve.

I appreciate everyone's swift replies; this has added some much needed context to the discussions I've been reading over the last few days.

The 'new' 18 months is the probable amount of time CCP will take to put in effect the things they promised us all this weekend.

With CCP's track record on timelines (Re: patch downtimes lol) it'll probably be more like 20 months =P

18 months could be the amount of time CCP ignores eve to finish Dusty Vampires.

You think a "lift and seperate" bra matters to someone with the name of Elephant*****? _______________________________________________ I'd have something witty here but my wits have left me for my alt. |

As usual, everyone on the forums got it wrong. CCP Oveur wrote something on the topic over in this old thread.
That is to say, at the time CSM was asking about possible timelines for implementation of new ideas, they were told that there were already 12 months or more of work planned (which had already started) and those new ideas wouldn't see the light of day for 18 months (i.e.: the 6-monthly path after the 12 months of work had finished).
But don't take my word for it, go read the post by CCP Oveur I linked to above and you'll be better educated than everyone else on this thread and most of the people on the forums.

Think you got the wrong link - its to CCP Fallout who references a CCP Zulu blog about need for speed?
The important question for me is... when is the 18 months up, so we can see some TLC given to EVE again?
Get over it! Learn from your mistake and move on. |

Assuming a ready supply of willing partners, a fifty percent inception rate and a lot of keepy-uppy, I'm thinking we could each father approximately 547 children in 18 months.

There are about 5 months left on the original 18months but we all know CCP can't commit to such a timeline made roughly 18months into the future so it could easily go from 1.5years to 2 years or more.
Then there is the fact that EVE resources will continue to be used to develop Vanity items etc as well as developing the Dust514 stuff needed in EVE for the link. As well as development to remake graphics because the point of EVE-Incarna is to sell you stuff through the cash shop and lure new players in you don't want them flying around looking at 3 year old graphics. Plus whatever WOD features we need to test in Incarna and the chance that CCP actually develops gameplay (stuff to do besides walk) for Incarna.
TLDR: More resources for space EVE probably starts to shift in their favor sometime after winter expansion but could easily be delayed until after spring. That still doesn't mean the majority of development or even most of it will be eve spaceships that we all signed up for.

we could do better than that if the women were co-operative :D mind you I never would, for the reason I would not want to and I would never be in a situation anyways.
