quick question for you guys that are more knowledgeable than me....I'm running on a dongle for the next week with a 1gb limit before I need to top up.....what sort of monthly data will EVE send and receive? Also secondly speedwise what sort of minimum does EVE need to let me do basic things (like fly from A to B) and can I do things like missions with a variable internet connection? Cheers in advance

Edited by: Ankanos on 03/07/2011 11:42:07 Eve hardly uses any bandwidth. (its rated for 56K connect)
I rarely see it go over 35k-45k in combat.
Now major patches, that's a another topic.
-minor client updates are usually 5megs in size.
Hope that helps,
-ank
EDIT: with no major patch, you'll never get near 1gb a month in usage. --- Resonance is the key |

I rarely see it go over 35k-45k in combat.
45k a second is a bit beyond 5.4k a second.

sometime eve seems to me to be nothing more than chat window it barely require internet connection.
so as long as you don't have uber terrabad connection you are good for travel and missions.
also i used mobile internet and still do sometimes and i can say for sure that sometimes i didn't burn more than one gig of data per month playing eve.

One of my friends used to play every night for 8 hours a night using a dongle and he rarely even used a third of his 1gb bandwidth allowance every month and that was using teamspeak as well.

thats good to know expected it to be a hungry hog in terms of data but guess most of the stuff is handled by the client....just checked even the PS3 only uses about 10mb an hour...
