I think the whole 'suicide gank' situation is delicious. It's a challenge to execute one successfully and it's a challenge for the target to survive one. The lion versus the gazelle; nature in perfect balance.
But it got me thinking. If you're a pirate and you succeed, you get a killmail (and maybe some loot). Fair enough.
But what does the target get when he survives one? I'd imagine he gets a great sense of great achievement, in addition to the relief of not losing his ship/goods. But that's about it.
So here's my idea. What if targets got 'CONCORDmails' on surviving a suicide gank?
I'm imagining a simple 'courtesy mail' from CONCORD advising:
'Good morning sir,
The ship owned by XXXX that illegally attacked you in XXXX has been destroyed. Congratulations on your survival and have a nice day!'
Pirates love to brag about their kills, but any failed attempt - which is a win for the 'passive' target - gets swept under the carpet. If targets could rack up CONCORDmails, I think the game would be more interesting and it would give some recognition to the players who consistently outsmart pirates.
Obviously, this idea only applies to hisec due to the requirement for the ships to be destroyed by CONCORD. But I wonder if there would also be a way to implement this in less secure space?
ps. I've only been playing for about 4 months, so my apologies if this is an old idea and has been suggested previously.

what would you do with those mails?
Paste them in locals? Publish on non-killboards? something else?

Haven't thought that far ahead, to be honest.
But I think it would be good to have some record of exciting encounters which would otherwise be forgotten.
I'm wondering how it might affect the attitudes of suicide gankers and industrilaists alike.
Would gankers be less prepared to attack for fear of having their failures exposed?
Would industrialists take more risks and set traps to collect CONCORDmails? And would this offer more suicide ganking opportunities?
Would haulers use their non-killboard stats (LOL) as a way of advertising how safe their hauling services are?
Oh, the possibilities for both sides. :)
