Feels like they have some NS-IP problems and some of us get directed at a machine that is not able to provide us the patch, and so we are stuck there and the client cannot figure out what's going on and gives us an empty "Unknown" status. CCP check your nameservers seriously, does the machine I connect to even have EVE on it? x)

Every time CCP put out a patch we mostly have to put up with this sorry state of affairs. They are simply clueless when it comes to testing & QA. They make everything so bloody difficult & wreck their own reputation, every single patch in the last few months has been busted or broke some other game mechanic. Total FAIL.

Methinks this is not plainly a CCP goof, seems to be an internet routing problem. I'm part of a large multinational corp, and doesn't seem to matter where they are some can connect, some can't.
Certain pipes have sprung a leak perhaps.

Hehe. You must be kidding right. That's at least 30 mins away, then it will be an 'unsure' answer, followed by a 'we're working on it', then magically, a few hours later, 'its fixed'.

It was funny that we got a "We just need 20 extra mins" update at first, but after that deadline past, nothing.

I was able to download the patch and log in just after the server came back up, just long enough to get some skills in the queue and then had the client close itself due to an "unexpected error" in win 7 and now I cannot log back in. In Australia also.

But in any case, they're consistently bad with patches, guess its time to either accept that they can't do it cleanly (and cannot improve), or seek outside assistance (move on).

The team have gone for coffee and croissants, as Navigator said, Server is up and tranq open for business - all fine on their end, lunch at the cafe called louder then looking back over their shoulder to see the rage thread ensue as our clients don't auto prompt for the patch and can't see the server.

A shame it repeately goes the way it does. Bad communication. People have been in the server for more then an hour. The DT got extended a bit.. And now a lot of countries cannot login.
I think it is time for ccp to offer some kind of compensation because of their mistakes. CCP is a company and we are their clients/customers. We do have rights. I don't really want to undertake any action but I am guessing we will have to cause they keep messing up.
And yes, i too (holland) cannot connect, status unknown.
CCP: A simple reply that you are working on it would have been nice...

Well technically I don't think this is unscheduled downtime as I am in game with 2 accounts atm and can play. Not sure how many other people were able to get on though.

its aussie prime time here, i could of maybe got some loving from the missus at 12pm ever server time (or 9.30 pm, aussie prime time), so i tried just now (10.30pm), and she told me to "#@$^ OFF, GO PLAY UER STUPID #$%^&*( GAME".
It's my weekly payday from work today, so now ive gotta wait wait 1 more week till "missus loving time",
i don't know how "wife loving time", works in iceland, eg, you have to hit a polar bear or some **** over the head and drag back to yer igloo or whats not before she gives you weekly loving quota, but seriously, you gotta get yer **** soughted out, before us aussies all make one mega alliance called "ccp F#$%^ED OUR LOVING TIME", and we run around the eve universe re-enforcing everyone's stations and towers and make all you other bastards get out of bed at ungodly hours, therefore interrupting you loving hours the next night.

hey maybe they realize we are ****ed about having conections problems and lost playing time which a lot of us pay real money for to ccp/ maybe they are afraid of more riots due to yet more screwups on their part. next time you roll out a new patch really and i mean really make sure you work thinbgs out before you scrw ua yet again!

I always have had concern about CCP's daily downtime...If servers are running correctly there is no need for daily downtime...and a company who was serious about running any type of server based programs would have a second set of server they can switch over to while they patch, repair, maintain so there is no disruption in service.
The impression I get from CCP's daily downtime is a rinky dink company running in someones garage.
Very unprofessional. Just a matter of time before some hack completely infiltrates their system and does an SOE on their arses. See if CCP ever recovers from a 3 month outage.

Ok so normally i wouldnt post after a patch screw up - but this is gettin beyond a joke now - i have a limited time to play and it seems that ccp has stopped reimbursing customers for lost game time(which they used to do frequently)
Why am i paying on time and full amount every month only to have no acces to game for hours at a time almost everyweek - without so much as an apology let alone a reimbursment - to me it seems fairly simple - i pay ccp $$ to be able to play this game 23/7 but recently i havent been able to play as much as i would like as when i have some free hours inevitably the server is down or the patch is screwed up!!  i think it is time for ccp to apologise and give the players some game time for free ( they dont want to do this due to their dire financial problems)
i was willing to put up with all the crap surrounding incarna and the protests but tbh why would i bother to continue to pay for a game that is fullof bugs and is offline for extended dt's every week
i am pretty sure we are talking about 2-4 days of lost game time in the last 30-40 days

You give people a few fair calls, sure. When they do it, almost every time, then there's something to worry about. Or do you just keep saying 'Aw, give them a break', when they do it consistently? And unless you're very recent to the game and not aware of it, its almost like clockwork that a patch falls over and there's extended downtime. Do I normally care? Not really. Is it acceptable given the dollars going into the game? Of course not. A lot of people don't really care because its their downtime. Still, not an excuse.

Its not in the patch notes but they changed part of the system loading code to get the warp effects back might have had a bad effet on CQ that it did not have on Sisi.

The database server is the bottleneck. In fact, it's the database itself. You just can't alter the database while players are using another copy of the database and then merge the two databases
DT are annoying, but nearly unavoidable due to the fact that eve is ONE universe shared by all players

The incompetence is huge. People will be leaving in droves soon mark my words, CCP are failing to deliver their product and when they do it is bug ridden alot of the time. Then you have all the Aurum crap to sort through and the rage that was created with the leak of an internal communique. The last month we have lost at lot of server time through things going south at CCP Central. Incarna was released yes - but its not a core EVE mechanic is it? I would say less that 25% are happy at it.
Now dont get me wrong I love EVE - but my loyalty is being sorely tested.
Please sort it out guys as you promised you would onlt this week

What a sterling database they chose for highly concurrent usage too, MS SQL Server. Bet the MS devs have been running around in circles working out locking issues with that.

Anybody awake at CCP? Looks like most of your client base can't log in at the moment. Any chance you might respond with something,even just a "We're aware there's an issue and we're looking into it?"

Feels like Belgium national rail operator the NMBS, you stand in wait on the platform for 5 hours and then to hear that the issue that caused the delays has been resolved.
And the next day they say on national radio: 'We believe it is in teh best intrest of our customers to inform them that there was a problem when we have a solution'
I'm beginning to believe CCP hires the same PR strategist at 1 million euros per month as the NMBS.

I hear the japanese editions are going cheap of late, something about decontamination clearance sales or other....
edit: it's a sad tragedy, with many displaced persons needing some certainty for their future. If i could open my house to accomadate I would.

To be honest, the patch wasn't exactly announced. I only noticed because I couldn't log in
which is why you should do it for any DT as I stated, if you know a patch comes it is however all the more reason to fill it (preferably with a skill at the end that last a month)

this is quite simple put. Yep some people got problems to log in so they worked on hotfix.. and in order to deploy it i guess the needed to take it down ..

Unfortunately, yes it does. In a well run system, it doesn't. That goes towards CCP's inability to test patches, not towards your blanket statement.

CSM and forum chat are all fine for complaining but isnt it time for a petition? Cause CCP is still going on with making the same mistakes as always and if you look at the past it becoming a trend for CCP to fail at everything from communication to server patches or fixes..

I know a lot of people will cry and shout towards this petition, but customers have rights too. The fact remains they screw up a lot and we do not get compensated or often not heard. Like now, they didnt even post a simple reply or anything to let us know they are working on it. The ISD in the help channel didnt even know anything.
Sign the petition or not, thats up to you. But CCP is a company and should take responsibity for a lot of things.

Only thing that hurts a company that has shown this degree of arrogance, is voting with dollars. That means cancelling accounts.
That is the only thing. Helmar said 'We'll listen to what they do, not what they say', and it's a sage point. Paraphrasing a bit there. But in essence, that's what you're dealing with.
They'll listen to masses of people of unsubscribing, because it hurts their bottom line. Will they listen to a lot of forum posts? No way. Its pretty simple. I would guess most of the people that complain and say they'll unsub, don't. Hence his statement.
Personally, I re-subbed tonight, and regret it, I was hoping things had improved. But I logged back on to a patch where all they've done is a badly coded single-room 3D environment, and no improvements.
That said, I will unsubscribe again shortly, because frankly, its not worth the money going to CCP anymore to continue this debacle.

I don't know how many times I've lifted manual transmissions into place, most by myself, throughout my lifetime. I have found one trick that makes tranny installation and alignment much easier, plus it helps to keep the weight of the tranny from being supported solely by the input shaft and the clutch.
Simply locate two 3" long bolts that will thread into your bellhousing, where the normal tranny retaining bolts are. Then cut off the heads of the bolts and grind that end off so that it is more ball shaped. Now you have made locating studs out of the bolts. See figure#1.

Got to still account for the farms in Russia and China where its still quite a livelihood to farm, not just in EVE but any game where there's idiots that buy virtual currency.
They don't care, apart from their livelihood briefly, about the downtime. Where it'll bite them is in the lack of buyers for plexes.

Nice thing about being in CA is the following. I get to sit at work reading about all the latest hassles, by the time I finish and come home, CCP have been working on all this stuff while I'm at work. I get home, start client and update.
