I am currently in the market for an amarr ship to use for 0.0 npc hunting. I know the apoc owns at npc hunting but I want this as my backup ship and dont really want to throw down that much money on a backup ship. I was looking at the prophecy but I dont know what kinds of spawns that ship can take. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

To take the battleship 0.0 spawns you need a abttleship really, either the Apoc or the geddon should do fine really. but i wouldnt recommend taking a battlecruiser if you are doing NPC battleship hunting. ------------------------------------------------- Defend Amarr space, join the Auctoritan Syndicate today |

I survived 4 Angel Hunters and 2 Angel Commanders spawning on top of me with my apoc, there's no way in hades I wouldv'e gotten away with an armageddon. Those missile launchers come in handy against npc frigs.
After I killed the frigs and escaped I immediatly warped back and pwned the commanders as well.

i don't know much about amarr ships, but i've taken down enforcer (750k megathron) and executor (500k dominix) spawns in 0.0 in my Ferox. so as long as you don't come across a multiple BS spawn, you really don't need a BS to hunt with, just gotta know how to handle your BC. ------------------------------------------------

The big problem with BS spawns, and especially those of 1 mill isk bounty and more, isn't the damage they deal but their tanking.
To kill a 1.5 mill BS one needs to do BS sized damage, nothing less.
The apoc is curretnly great for npcing with its lasers reserving cargospace for loot and with megapulses being strong enough to kill even the very heavy BS spawns while the repairers can easily keep up with their damage.
However, with megapulses less powerfull or with less range this is going to be less easy then before. Still, any tier2 BS can handle every single 0.0 NPC spawn Eve could throw at it. It's just that you'll need to think more while doing it.
Personally I prefer the megathron for most npcing. A good blaster setup can save its capcharges for the real tight situations and still deal with triple spawns and the occasional officer without going into structure. It's a tight setup tho, sniping them from a safe 90km with beams or rails is much easier, altho also more time consuming. _______________________________________________

Apoc with it's extra Cap per level is fantastic for tanking and you can dish out some real damage.
user cruise missles for npc frigs and intys. "The object of war is not to die for your corp, but to make the other b@##@#d die for his" |

it all depends on what ur going to be hunting and what rats... me and my m8 once BS hunted ina cruiser and a BC once the cruiser is close enough the BS didn't hit me... but ifu wanna solo i would suggest a BS (apoc or geddon).. -----------

You can do it in an inteceptor - easily. I've used my crusader a lot, chained the enforcer solo, as long as you don't get webbed and then cruised to death you can do it easily . Some people may complain about the damage but if you fit some nice tech II's you can be doing some pretty good damage on them. Takes a bit longer but gets the job done and you can always easily run away or even lose the thing without a big dent in the wallet afterwards.

I'm pretty much still a newbie, so I'll ask this;
you can take out an npc BS with tech 2 small guns...?

You might try an Assault Ship. They're fun. I think the Retribution would be excellent for NPC hunting: I can manage 1.5m with two 1m battleship spawns with an Enyo. That's 3.5M in total, backed up by inties.

hmm retribution huh? Would that work as well as a geddon or apoc? How much would that beast cost to buy and outfit to be able to use in bs spawns. I think it would work best with a friend since I cant even pick up the good loot can I?

Forget using an inty or assault ship for it unless its not about isk or time but just about fun.
Chaining NPC BS in an inty sure is possible yes, but it takes fecking ages comapred to a decent BS setup, and getting the loot out with 120 m3 cargo isnt fun either.
And don't forget new missile behaviour. I know it used to be easy enough to dodge missiles coming at you from 10 different npc's, but nowadays its a whole enw game to do so. Get webbed once by an npc inty and you die, easy as that.
Tbh, if you wanna have fun, go try using small ships and crazy stuff once in a while.
If you wanna make isk, use a BS fitted for just enough tanking and a whole lot of damage. A blasterthron takes about 20 seconds to down a 1 mill NPC BS. Try that in a retribution.

well if you put that way Thanit well yes this is more of fun thing to do and making a little ISK as well at the same time. For chaining then yes a BS - Geddon can easily do it (not a gankageddon, just a normal tanked one), if you want overkill and feel "safe" then a Raven, but by far the best is the Apoc.

I used to take out arch angel commanders with a thorax, did it with a vexor once too, does that make me 1337? It would be tougher now with the dual mwd nerf.
