Been out of the game a while and gave away most of my isk before my last quit. Need some suggestions for a dirt cheap mission grinder to get me back on my feet. I fly just about everything in the game on my main (90mil sp, almost all of it subcap training), have access to a crystal set, and i'm otherwise flat broke at only 400mil or so in liquid.

For 400mil and a Crystal Set Slepnir works as well as an Active Nighthawk.

Yup I go with active NH as well, just throw a tractor beam in the last high and use an AB and loot during the mission and things will go by pretty quickly. And don't bother to come back to salvage, because if your rushing through them like this you make more money by doing another mission than bringing back a salvaging ship from what I notice.
And if your up against a ship that uses defenders, use the AB to get in close and than blast it with your missiles so they don't have a chance to use them. Though that's true for any missile platform, just destroy everything else on the way to getting in close range.

Maybe this is why I enjoy my Tengu more than a raven. Cruise missiles from 150km is fun but disappointing when three of them get defendered. the Gu can flight right up to them and laugh at defenders.

I know that's why I like AB on my NH, I probably be flying the Tengu if it weren't for the fact that they didn't exist when I trained up for the NH. I refuse to fly BS's personally because I find BCs slow enough as is.

Not entirely certain of current market prices as I haven't been in-game much yet, but iirc a nighthawk fitted up cost pretty close to 400mil. Probably best I don't bet the farm on ship1 at this juncture as I haven't logged in or run a mission in over a year.
Maelstrom sounds promising, but might not have the range to work caldari space where my best agents are. Can anyone comment on that within the recent patch?

Caldari space = Gurristas = being permajammed HEAPS.
Is it possible to run L4's elsewhere? Gallente space would be good but i suspect ur standings with them are bad... would suggest a Mael with 1 ECCM maybe?

It's only around 400mil if you set it up with T2 rigs or faction fit it, neither or which is required. You can set it up with T2 fit and t1 rigs for probably closer to around 250mil.

Hadn't considered how problematic that would be, but a quick look at the mission boards seems to indicate jamming got a lot worse recently. Humbug. I don't suppose a low sensor strength minmatar rust-bucket would be the weapon of choice against guristas then.
And yes, my faction standing with the gallente and minmatar are uh... prohibitive to say the least.

if you can't fly tengu, nighthawk isn't a bad idea, nor is raven. Maelstrom works great, especially considering the crystal set will allow double or even triple eccms.
As for agent availability, might i suggest looking up a corp rather soonish. It'll help you quite a bit with both standings and tips and tricks. There's plenty of carebearcorps if that's all you want to do. |

Well, i'm actually very close to a perfect tengu pilot(and every other subcap except black ops), but as i've explained my budget is tiny at the moment. I suppose it's possible to squeeze a bare-minimum t3 together for close to what i've got, but i'm not the type to bet the farm on one ship.
As for the mael, triple eccm? Dear god, if that's necessary i'm going to strait to amarr space. **** that. |

why not get a standard tech 2 fit raven? should do the trick fine on guristas, another option is a sentry dominix. that has the advantage of having no problems with jamming at all.
The jamming can be somewhat annoying, but its not as bad as ppl make it out to be, just dont use a marauder on jamming missions.

Problem with the raven is I never skilled for t2 cruise launchers since CN launchers were considered universally better at the time I was actively using one (not sure if that's still the case). I'd rather not debase myself with meta4 launchers , but if it came down to it then I guess i'll swallow my pride.
I have my eye on a dominix right now. Having some jam-proof damage seems like a big plus if half what I hear about the new jamming is true. |

If you are on a real budget, a Drake can run level 4's, not the most efficient but it will get you started on the road to riches.
That or the good old dual rep or sentry rigged Domi ♥

If isk is that tight, go raven indeed. Meta 4 launchers or cn either works fine. And you can upgrade whenever you get the funds for it, wether it be towards a tengu, cnr or golem, or any of the other topships, machariel, nightmare, paladin etc. |

Maelstrom with 1400s works pretty well for Guristas missions.

Hobgoblin II x5
The long cycle time of the artillery give you time to align with all the cruisers orbiting you, ensuring that shots well under your optimal hit. Battleships get wrecked by your artillery, regardless of range.
This particular fit requires AWU5, and is cap stable. You can drop cap mods for tracking comps etc, depending on preference.
With a crystal set it tanks 680 with my skills vs Guristas. More than enough for any L4.
Adding an Afterburner requires downgrading a couple guns to 1200s, or a 5% PG implant.
Flying it in missions is quite a bit more involved than your average Raven, but much more fun, I think. And better looking. |

Just want to second this, especially considering the changes in the recent patch (number of jamming ships per mission was greatly reduced). Not to say you won't ever get jammed, but it's not nearly as bad as it was a month ago. |
