Hey guys, I'm a bit of a newbie so forgive me if you've heard this a million times. I'm currently at 8mil SP and I'm looking to move up to level 4 missions. Right now I have a Hurricane that's nearly all T2 modules that runs Level 3s easily. My gun skills aren't too bad, Level 4 and 5 mostly but I don't have tech 2 large guns yet. My armor tanking skills are 4-5 but my shield skills are mostly level 3 with only a couple 4s. I don't have tech 2 drones yet and my launcher skills mostly suck.
Is it possible to build a Maelstrom to withstand Level 4s with my current skill level? Also ISK is an issue, I probably can't spare more than 200mil to equip it so most super expensive plex mods are out of the question. Can it be done or should I suck it up and go back to grinding level 3s while I wait for more tech 2 BS mod skills?

You can manage without T2 guns no problem and launchers are not an issue as the maelstrom can fit a full rack of guns.
I would not recommend doing level 4s without t2 light/medium drones though and you should really have the skills for close to a t2 shield tank.

....go do lv4's, you are ready. Most people jump into lv4's with far less SP than you have I would say (though they usually die horribly). So should be fine, just equip a good tank until you get use to it and you be fine. When you feel more comfortable you can start removing a bit more of the tank for more gank. Oh and there is a mission survival guide which tells you what your up against, google it as i don't remember what its called exactly.
Oh and BUY INSURANCE, can't stress that one enough I can almost guarantee you will lose a ship to stupidity when you start out on lv4s, we all do. And besides that enjoy the very large amount of isk you be making compared to lv3's. And as a side note beware of the missions which has the ships that use Nos i believe, they are annoying, so target them and all ships that scram you first and destroy them, in fact make any ship which EWAR top priority unless it's a target painter than it's not so much of a big deal in a BS.
