I have flown a Raven for some time so Fitting skills are excellent.
I am learn Gunner with a view to flying Megathron aside from Trajectory Analysis and motion prediction What are the most important skills and Why.
Large Hybrid and Hybrid Specialisation are a given once I have the neccessary Generic skills done.

Rapid Firing and Sharpshooter are both vital skills, as they increase your damage over time.
Controlled Bursts is also very useful when using blasters, as it lowers your cap consumption.

Surgical Strike increases damage. Sharpshooter increases range.
At the end, you need all of them (the generics, that is) --

Two Questions
1. Are there any generic gunners skills which are simply not worth training to level 5. 2. Is everything between Acc Fall Off and Optimal Range = to Optimal Damage. "The object of war is not to die for your corp, but to make the other b@##@#d die for his" |

If your flying a megathron with railguns, the skill to reduce turret CPU requirements is worth getting to level 4/5

Oops
I was thinking Surgical Strike, but somehow ended up typing Sharpshooter

1. As a projectile user I've got them all trained to 5 except controlled bursts. _________________________________________________________

I suppose Controlled Bursts 5, Rapid Firing 5, Surgical Strike 5 and Motion Prediction 5 would be the most useful for a Megathron pilot, if you're using blasters. Drone Interfacing 4 and Heavy Drones 4 as well.

1. Basically if you are a Mega pilot then all the gunnery skills are helpful. Those I would however put off until you have nothing to train are trajectory analysis and surgical strike. They simply give two little bonuses for the training time required. All rank 2 skills should be trained to level 5 before you do train those two to level 5.
2. No, The further you get from optimal range the less chance you have to hit. Fall off is the range where chance to hit has fallen below 50% of the chance you have when you are at optimal (if I remember correctly that is).
