I got it. Out in Curse, warped to a gate to jump, nothing happened. Game said a session change was in progress, but my ship wouldn't move. So, I logged off, tried to log back in, was stuck authenticating for a couple minutes. Closed, reopened, and now Proxy Not Connected.

Same here, although I was not disconnected when it started acting up. I was still in-game, but I couldn't really do anything that required pulling data from the server. I could still strut around in CQ all I wanted, but I got a blank screen when checking the market or skills or anything.
So I restarted the client and now I can't log in at all. Go figure.

same here, logged in a couple of times only to have the client close on login, then got socket closed, not connected to sol, and the proxy message...
EDIT: now getting the
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong." 
message...
and the forums are lagged to hell and back too...

Damn I was in losec uncloaked by a gate, ready to warp and a gate camp there. I normally would get away in a cov ops ship but now when I gert back I am sure I will be awaking in a station without the ship.l Haha +1 CCP always interesting.

Yea, same here, proxy not connected to *somewhere*.. client crashed just perfectly as i was starting a lvl4 Attack of the Drones..
Just about to warp back to station, had changed my mind and was going to do it tomorrow. Wonder where i find myself when i log in back. And flying what..?

My friend his game keeps crashing, I regulary don't get my warp visuals (ok, I can understand that crashing has a higher priority) but come on... 2nd time today you have a database failure?
A database doesn't just keep failing like this. Find the problem and fix it.

So here I was, at 1 AM in the morning, doing my final missions in null sec before going to sleep, when, out of nowhere, a corpie said something about an officer spawn nearby. "Kewl" I said to myself, thinking maybe I'll net some profit as I am currently pretty much broke.
So I start talking with my corpie, telling him I'll jump in with my thanatos to kill the spawn, but - and there's always a but - he had no cyno near him. So he went around 3-4 systems getting the liquid oxygen, the frigate, the cyno module, until finally, he came back to the system. But, surprise! The officer wasn't in the same belt; so I tell him to start looking for him, which he does, leaving me to wait alongside that feeling people in my country call "Having a carrot up the a**" (excitement and anxiety before something risky happens).
Finally he finds him and tells me he'll light the cyno and... the carrier char crashes. I desperately tell him not to cyno from an alt... to no avail, since it crashes as well, just like my 3rd char, the cyno-out alt.
So now it's 01:24 here and I'm waiting for the server to get up again. Hopes are low, but... meh... it's so late, I really don't care anymore.
Cons:
I was with carrier in space.
I lost my first officer in 2 years.
My corpie prolly died.
I had just accepted another mission.
There were quite a few reds around.
Pros:
I was at station undock with the carrier.
I got hyped.
I wasn't in the mission, with webs/scrams and **** on me.
I had no drones out.
I hadn't yet jumped into the stationless system were the officer was.
Overall, more Pros than Cons... but I had to think a bit to get those last few pros.
So, how are the hamsters?
