I discovered Eve in 2005.
Since discovering it i have not played any other games, none of them seem to have any point. Having got bored of halo in seconds, i did take great amusment in shooting my boss many times over who refused to belive i played on heroic. FPS games held interest for me for a while but nvr for long as for the most part they were too easy.
Then i found eve quite by accident
After the most serious learning curve of any game i was instantly hooked. It was my first interaction with a player that set the game in motion for me, i had been playing literally a couple hours when i answered a distress call in local. A hauler was in trouble and getting attacked by a couple rats which i dutifully killed in my nooby ship, civillain weapons near melting to kill the rougue frigates.
My heart was pumping, this player called Broid ( funny the things you dont forget ) paid me iskies for helping him and it was a lot too for a nooby i was set.
I was soon out in a frigate and was the proud owner of a industrial, warping around the space lanes looking for ways to earn money.
I recall mining every day for weeks to get the materials for my first battleship, and how proud i was when i undocked in it for the first time.
I recal our first war and the fun we had around keshirou getting chased and working with the locals to kill our war targets, getting help to defend my corps POS when no one else from my corp was online.
I played the dutiful empire carebear for a while but it wasnt long before the call of 0.0 had me. Like many pilots my first trip to 0.0 space was with the CVA. It wasnt long before i was sitting in the gate camps in HED-GP where i got my first pvp kills, when interdicors came out i was in one fairly quickly and always invited out on fleets or to camps, finally i got invited to join darkstar1 with ASCN and i had some great times flying with those boys. The first titan doomsday firing - i was there, the war with BoB i was there as well even leading a 200man fleet into a fight having nvr FC'd before, getting locked into a system by bob and going ratting for the shere hell of it!
From there i was talked into being a CEO, i joined my friends from corps past to collaberate and make a new corp to have fun in. Within days of forming we joined the IAC and moved to FAT long before it had a station. We had some great times out here flying with the allaince, those guys were just awsome fun. Back then we had to do dangerous stuff like run frieghters down the pipe in escorts, but somehow it was always a laugh.
Then, in a twist my RL went **** up because of eve. My partner of 8 years left me saying that amoung other things i cared more about my eve buddies than them. so yes i was an eve divorcee.
I will admit i stopped playing for a while, about a year to be honest. But i nvr cancelled my subscription.......yes i paid in full for a year and nvr logged in.
CCP sent me an email, not the we miss you kind, cause i had technically nvr left but the one about DUST. I watched that vid and thought wow.
Within hours i was logged back in looking at all the new stuff that had been added in my absense. I decided to join a corp as it looked as if my old one had disolved, in the first corp met a couple of fellas and we have moved through a couple more corps together finally now creating our own and making new adventures for ourselves.
In our first week we got dec'd by a small low sec allaince. We had endless fun undocking in frigates and cruisers all t1 fitted to try to take down there t2 fitted stuff, sure we lost loads but had so much fun doing it. We made new friends in the waring allaince because we undocked and fought them.
Now we are part of an allaince and setting up in null again and the adventures continue.
My love affair with this game has cost me lots, but brought me much, bored i thought i would share some of it with you.
To my current corpies/allaince buds long may the adventure continue!!

Thankyou
there is so much you can write about when you start to think about it, like trying to show off your new shiny pos to a potential recruit and setting the standings wrong and watching helpless as the pos guns destroyed his ship with everyone howling laughing at you in TS.
I have nvr lived that down!
Going to the fanfest and smoking outside with and talking with Devs is still a highlight for me and one i nvr mentioned either cause you can only post so much.
so many highs only a couple of lows, will be here to see what happens next for sure

o/ Valek....
nice post. good to see that u came back, and as a vet player u didnt leave over the hubbub lately.
and yes, i also find myself addicted to the game. i play pretty much every day, to the neglect of some RL things, but thats what an addiction is :(
thx for sharing your "I was There" moment. tho mine hasnt taken to the null sec or pvp route, it still is fun for me, and eventually im sure i'll be out there blowing up stuff too pvp wise.....

thanks,
Just realised this is my "i was there" moment although not what i wanted to put out, we were discussing the old times on ts last night and it had me thinking and thats what the post was more about. I hope that when you make the switch over to null and pvp that you have as much fun doing it as i.
the recent bru haa haa well i was happy with ccp's answers and reaction, i know many were not.
No i will be here a while yet, and if you want to make that switch and come 0.0 and pvp drop me a line in game

Great post, been playing since '04 on and off and keep coming back for more. It is my view to which I am entitled and hold no obligation to anyone to explain. --Vyl Vit |

good story, now to make it all better ccp needs to fix the UI, annoying when docked and you go to move 1 thing and it suddenly thinks you have selected every window and item
thank god for the new "Carbon UI" brings buggy-ness to a whole new level.

0/ Hired Assasin, thanks for your comments.
I will agree there are some serious issues in game at mo, however will argue that this has always been the case as the game gets developed. Some of the bugs and work arounds for those bugs have actually become features!
Its always been more about the ideal for me, in true RP style my brain fills in the gaps for whats not there and makes the best of what there is, i am not a role player in the sense some folks play the game but yes there is a role play element to things i do, Valek is a different person to me in real life and makes descions based on how i perceive a hardened space travellor to react to a given situation, sometimes i will be calm and logical others i will come out guns blasing.
I like the ideals eve has, the playerbase is by far the best part of it and CCP build us this frame work to play within, i have confidence that when "the door" opens this will unlock a new era for eve and it will be fun trying to push the boundires again of what we can do with it, i welcome the chance to destroy the DUST players at a whim because they are DUST players
I have always loved the phrase " welcome to eve " long may it actually mean " welcome to the hardest and most rewarding game on the planet at the moment, if you dont like it **** off back to wow"
