My gun skills arent very good by im only doing about 150 damage per hit using multi's. Ive heard people do a LOT higher than that?

150 is pretty good but i doubt you will do that vs an opponent with hardeners, for damage output its realy 2 things that count : skills (duh ..) and you can use heatsinks in low.

Without talking about skills, there are two main things to consider.
1. Heat sinks. If you hear of big hitting megapulses, then there are probably a few heatsinks in the lows. Personally I always try to fit at least one heatsink if possible.
2. What are you shooting at ? If you're close enough to use multis, then you are probably not going to get great hits against frigs and cruisers. If you're shooting bs, then there's a fair chance they have high resistances (unless they're bloods or sanshas).

I actually have several heat sinks fitted, allthough theyre nothing fancy just 'Heat Sink I' Also im hitting that against cruisers :/

Mgeapulses that hit cruisers with multifrequency crystals alone is nuts. Your optimal with your limited skills should be what ? 16-17km ? And you get to hit cruisers at that range, let alone do 150 damage a shot with what ? lvl 3 skills and some heatsink I's ? I'd personally enjoy that while it lasts, cause it aint gonna last.

I'd recommend getting some better heatsinks, and trying different crystals. Heat sink IIs would be best, however I think there are some cheap skadis on sale in Kador ( ) if you don't have the cash/skills for tech II. I find UV crystals work nicely against frigs and cruisers.

Between 10-30km I¦m using Multi crystals (48 HP damage * damage modifier) Between 30-50km I¦m using UV crystals (36 HP damage * damage modifier) Between 50-70km I¦m using Microwave crystals (28 HP damage * damage modifier)
So with an effective damage modifier of 5 of your megapulse 150 HP damage with a long-range crystal is good. Multis could do up to 250 depending on the taget¦s resistance against EM and Thermal damage.
If you have capacitor problems you could also use Gammas (-20% cap) instead of Multis (+/- 0%) and Infrareds (-35%) instead of Microwaves (-25%).
If you have bad hits against cruisers and frigs you can give a Tracking computer I/II a try in the midslots. You will have more hits and excellent hits with a tracking computer, especially against smaller targets. |

10-30km with multi? i dont shoot ower 23km with multi, then i go for ultra,then radio,and i have sharpshooter lvl 5 yes, so 17km optimal on multi..

untanked shield damage generally around 200hp, best hit 576hp with no heatsinks :D

and medium projectile tech 2 guns hit for over 700 damage but yet an unmodded mega pulse on un resistant shields does under 600 damage with great high lvl skills.
I can't get out of 400's myself without mods on APOC. Usually average about 200 with tech 1's. ship skill gun skill at 4
my alt with 8 mill in gunnery averages about 275 with 3 heat sinks in an apoc and tech 2 pulses.
but yet they need to be nerfed. oh the irony

Duh, that was about as flawed an argument as one could type out on the subject.
They dont have the great hits other guns have...
Whats the rof on pulses again ? Whats the range on pulses again ?
Compare those to that 720mm II of yours. And if you don't like ti, use the 720 II's instead. (ignoring that those guns get damage bonuses on the ships they are used on, which might just help them get the better big hits as well ?).

Yay! Another Mega Pulse thread! I use Mega Pulse on a daily basis. I like how they work yet I'm willing to have them removed from the game entirely if we can avoid three threads per week at 8+ pages each on the subject.

Normaly when i make mission with my corp mate i always fit for full dmg, 7 heat skin 2 + 8 megapulse, than u can see what means dmg :D
And in arma 7 megapulse and 8 heat skin 2 :D
Just for laught:
In gruistas extravaganza the 2.25 mill bs attacked me, like u see i don't have ANY tank, all med slot are ab's 100mn or cap recharger, and i killed it from 10km and he took me away only half shield :D just for say how much damn dmg u make
