Yes, the damsel. I'm pretty sure I accidentally blew the can she was in. Am I screwed? Will she respawn after downtime? If I buy a damsel off contracts, can I use her to complete the mission. This chick is nothing but trouble. He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

The mission should be flagged as complete so I think you should be able to buy the damsel off contracts and comeplete it that way :)

Yes. But look at the reward you'll get vs. the money you'll spend. It's probably not worth it, and while you'll take a standings hit, it may not be enough of a hit to make the purchase worthwhile.

Yeah, I was thinking that even if I can buy her, it's probably not worth it. She seems to go for about 15 mil. I'm a bit annoyed at myself because the only reason I'm doing missions for that agent is for the standings. He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

If you won't lose access to the agent, don't sweat it. Your faction standings will take very small hit, but honestly not significant. Corp will be bigger, and agent bigger still ( possibly a few percent, I don't recall though). But as long as faction, corp, or agent standings are high enough to continue to access the agent (and none drop below -2), you'll make it up in a few missions.

try to have the mission reset via petition, you might get a sympathetic gm esp. if you really did do it by accident. the other can is dangerous dangerous contraband after all.

The question I find myself asking in relation to this mission is did she buy dis dress from the Nex store - that would account for her needing to be rescued all the time

100% This
0% this, really.
Assuming the OP wants that Damsel, if he petitions and tells the truth, the responding GM will almost certainly deny the petition: game mechanics working as designed, so the petition will effectively be a waste of time. That leaves the OP lying about the sequence of events. Fraud much?
If the damsel (or lack) will cost the OP access to L4 agents for a corp, and it's important to him to retain that access, then buy one off contracts or, umm, "acquire one from another mission runner" (depending on in-game morals, corp/personal position vis a vis pirates, etc.). Otherwise, fail the mission, take the standings hits, and move on.

Troll much?
You must have missed the part - "you might get a sympathetic gm". The "100% this" was about that.
It only takes a couple of minutes to file a petition - Mission in progress - Character stuck - which get answered very quickly within a few minutes. Doesn't hurt to try and just might get lucky.

It only takes a few minutes to fill in the petition. And adds yet another petition to the stack. Deal with the consequences of your actions - either get one in some other way (contracts, or through a mission with another agent) or fail the mission. Imho, petitioning stuff like this should result in a warning.

Ahhh, I see backup has arrived.
Since it's the player's first time, it shouldn't be a problem.
Now about the petitions, it must not be a very large stack if the petitions are being answered within a couple of minutes.
Beside's that, how do you know there's even a stack of petitions, are you a GM?

Nope. Relying on a pity party isn't a productive use of most people's time, and the proper response to the petition you suggest is a polite "get lost" from the GM, because game mechanics did work as intended. (Admittedly to the detriment of the OP, who has doubtless moved on already, so we're beating a dead horse.)
I'll mention that my response was based on ethics: I don't consider fraud, even trivial fraud, ethical ("because I can get away with it" isn't an excuse for breaking the law), so I gave advice based on game mechanics and in-game considerations.

Excuse me but I don't see GM anywhere in your name so how do you know what the response will be? Do you have a copy of the GM's Policy's and Rules in front of you?
No, you don't.

Given that EVE is a cold and unforgiving place, I'd rather help the OP figure out what he can do within the (not broken in this case) game mechanics, instead of advising him to petition something that's not broken.
As for the GM policy manual, where's yours? What, you don't have one? Then shut up about it...

1) Actions and consequences. Man up, acquire one unit of damsel in some other way or fail the mission, the standings hit isn't that big. 2) My last petition, 3 weeks ago, took 2 weeks to answer. Corp- and alliancemembers' have seen similar response times lately. People have posted remarks on longer response times. All of which is surely purely coincidental. Why in blazes would you want to get them unnecessary work?
In short: get of your high horse, and crawl back under your bridge.

Mintala, you seem to have some anger issues. You need to relax about your spaceships. I agree that it was a dumb move and he has to suck up the standing hit or pay the cash for another damsel, but I have no issue with him trying the petition route. We pay money to these people, they literally get paid to look at my petition, if they deny it there you go, but you can't give someone crap about at least putting the petition in.

Good job at trying to twist my statements around in a vain attempt to prove you're right. You had already posted your advice before I posted agreement with another player's advice. There was no reason for you to quote me and then start troll posting.
I haven't posted any statements about knowing GM Policy regarding game play and petitions like you have. I do know for a fact that the Game Mechanics will allow a player to file a petition. If it's not justified, it won't be granted. Plain and simple.

1) It's not my mission or my thread, you need to talk to the OP. 2) I feel sorry for you if it takes that long to get a reply to your petitions. Of course Reimbursement Petitions will take weeks for a reply and are usually not granted.
The longest wait I've ever had for a reply to a petition was 4 days. That was for information regarding a page I was writing in the Evelopedia. Mission Petitions are generally answered within 15 minutes. Every player has the right to file a petition. It's up to the GM's to decide if it's justified or not.
In short: The Op asked for options and everybody gave some. This thread is now 'Off Topic' and is becoming a Flame War due to both of you deciding to troll post remarks personally directed towards me. If it continues, it'll result in another petition being filed, aka 'Report'.

Wow, saw my thread was still floating around. Didn't mean to set off an argument! I ended up just taking the standings hit since, while annoying, it wasn't the end of the world. Didn't think to file a petition over this, since I'm pretty sure it was my fault, though, to be honest, I'm not positive I killed her. I suppose it's possible (though unlikely) she didn't spawn.
I was trying a Domi fit where I was looting and salvaging as I went along. I started blowing up the excess cans because they were making my overview a mess. Needless to say, I went back to the more traditional method of bm'ing and coming back in a Noctis to loot/salvage.
Thanks for the replies. He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

I disagreed with what you said. I quoted you to make clear exactly who and what I disagreed with. I still disagree with what you said. I think advising people to file "stuck" petitions for normal game mechanics is bad advice, and I think filing that petition is ethically ambiguous at best.
You'd better get used to people disagreeing with you; you have to deal with it a lot in the real world.

I did something stupid like this a couple of years ago. So I sent in a petition saying what happened. Within about 15 minutes a GM reset it for me and I was able to finish.

apologies ahead of time. I only read the first half of this whole thread to this point.
the bid about the GM... GM's are put into the game to both moderate and help the community iirc. The final goal of a GM (at least from my last 8 years of gaming experience) is to look at a situation and think one of two things: (assuming a GM isn't sympathetic) 1. Will this player continue playing the game with or without my help? Yes - then don't help no - then help 2. Will this player's actions cause people to quit playing the game? (against the rules of bla bla bla ccp) Yes - destroy player no - nicely let the petitioneer know that nothing can be done. (or should be)
I know this is very general, but it is in essence the role of a GM... to moderate and maintain gameplay to an extent of playability towards the players as a whole.
Basically, both of the arguing peoples are right, thus the argument is a waste of time more than the argument is.
Actually, right now, I think I'm a little under the weather... no one should be listening to me... maybe.. we'll see.
