Well I want all to change their passwords who have the same one in EVE and on some fan site. This is not the first one coming from a user hacked form having the same password on forum/fansite/corpsite and ingame.
I would not go and say EVE-I has nothing to do with this and I would not belive it until hard prove of it. EVE-I has been in good relationship with them and they do a fantastic job. Just a reminder DO NOT HAVE THE SAME PASSWORDS AS WHERE YOU LOGIN TO 3RD PARTY SITE OR APPLICATION.
About the save password feature well that is optional and you will have to chack since it comes unchecked. It is on your responcability to use it.
In all cases where users have been hacked they have had either installed 3rd party software or had the same password in EVE and elsewhere.
If you think you have put your password somewhere or you suspect someone of having your password. CHANGE IT NOW!
I have given you the money back that was taken from you have I have banned one user :D

All passwords have been changed.
PLEASE don't think I was slamming EVE-I.com Their site is one that I use daily in my gameplay, and will continue to do so. This was a virus related incident and NOT anything to do with their site!

So in your official response you choose to use wording that is tantamount to saying "as far as I know EVE-I are a bunch of hackers". Instead of staying on-topic and sticking to the facts of this particular case which are:

1. You failed to awknoweledge the possibility that someone out there is using a tool specifically created to steal people's account details.
2. You manage to blame the problem on people using the same user and pass on eve-i and other 3rd. party tool/website providers despite the fact that the guy who was hacked in this case provided an infinately more likely reason for the theft of his account details.
Effectively you have washed you hands of any responsability and insunuated that eve-i and other legitimate providers of 3rd. party tools are to blame while the real problem could lie elsewhere.
You're not that cunning are you?... My advice is to leave the typing and wording of offical responses to people who have the skills to avoid screwing up...

nice of you to come steaming into the topic at the very end. and the point of your post is what ? try and score a few points over a dev.
i was going to write a big reply...but theres some wet paint on that wall outside that really needs a good watching.

3rd party tools
As EVE grows, there are 3rd party tools emerging that promise to aid you in the game. Such tools are TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED BY CCP. Many claim youŠll benefit by using macros to record your keystrokes and mouse movement. More often these tools are a cover-up for Trojan horses to capture your username and password and/or other sensitive information. We strongly advise you not to install or use these tools under any circumstances. They might seem to help you but you never know when your account may be cleaned out by a 1337 hax0r.

Hmm, interesting. Personaly i think its foolish to have the same login/password combo on sites and so on. I have about 7 different user accounts and 7 different passwords that i cycle when registering, must say its most effective. About the part that the webmasters of EVE-I is responsable i dont belive in, have you guys ever heard about packet sniffers? A good hacker can easily come by your login if he knows how to do it, quite easy actually...a friend of my did it on a lan with the lunarstorm.se (swedish fjortis community), he manage to get 8 accounts and passwords in 30 min. Sad that these things happens tho. Lesson, dont use the same user/password combo twice!

My point was to raise awareness that the reply from the Dev in question was worded in such a fashion that eve-i and legitimate providers of 3rd. party tools and websites could be at blame.
Irrespective of former official announcements from CCP staff this specific thread was handled poorly.
I think the devs. (and others) should refrain from making any comments unless they clear them with PR staff first (which I suspect did not happen this time). The wording of the response could have been:
"... we're currenly investigating the specific case and untill we have a clear view of what exactly happened I cannot comment on the specific case. The investigation by the person himself uncovered the precense of a trojan and as such the evidence against EVE-I in this case is thin. Nevertheless it is the official attitude of CCP that users should refrain from sharing their login details, that includes using the same user/pass on 3rd. party websites as mentioned before. I would also like to repeat that installing any 3rd. party software is done completely at you own risk."

From reading this it is clear that this particular Dev's English is not 100% - although it is about 500 million times better than my Icelandic!
I think from many years of reading the responses of 'non-English' people writing in English on forums that what he was actually trying to say was -
"I would not say that EVE-I has anything to do with this and I would not believe it unless I was presented with hard evidence"
He then goes on to state what a good relationship CCP has with EVE-I - which as you have already pointed out seems at strange if you really believe he was having a dig at EVE-I in the first sentence.
I believe that that this is simply a misunderstanding and that you have been extremely hasty in attacking this Dev for something I am sure he did not truly mean...
