Is the l4 raven of doom better with a large tech II booster running constantly or with a bursted XL clarity/c5l?
I'm running an Xl clarity (need the cpu to fit properly as weapon upgrades 5 is still training), and it's really annoying to have to spot burst my shields. Was wondering if getting like a DG large booster or something might be better. Can't quite afford a gistii booster yet:P
My current setup-- 6 limos siege, 1 heavy nos (swappin back to a smartbomb soon:P) XL clarity, ionic amp, 2 kinetic & 2 thermal hardeners 4 pds II, bcs

Yeh - I run with a T2 large booster - more effecient and dont have to worry so much about it killing you cap when you forget to turn it off!
Actually, I recently started running with 2 of them fitted and dumped the hardners for a T2 cap charger and extender - for those pesky deadspace missions where you get all shot up on warp in.
Worked pretty well actually. Oh, shield boost amp is a must here.
I also tend to take a rocket launcher with defenders - which gets rid of most of the missile hits.

High: 1 E500 heavy Nos, 6 siege Medium: 1 XL C5-L 1 shield booster amp 2 18% cap rechargrs 2 50% or 55% hardeners Low: 5 PDU
and all fits easy and if i run out of cap i know it will recharge fast

I think this post belongs in the ship/mods forum, as I see no relevance with missions whatsoever.

Tested both and a T2 Large + Shield Amp is definatly the better choice. XL boosters suck up too much juice to keep it running for long.

I agree, having tried a XL+amp, 2 Tech II Large, and a Tech II large+amp I find the Tech II Large with an amp suits me.
It gives a good boost but not so much that it drains all your cap in 5seconds..
Provided you've fitted the right hardeners you should find the Tech II large and an amp enough for most situations ___________ ~Fredbob~

Edited by: Jim Steele on 25/02/2005 10:05:10 I suppose it depends on choice, if you like leaving your Shield Bbooster active then use a large, if you like being efficient with cap and therefor tanking longer then use a xl c5-l plus shield boost amp.
Ive had some spawns the xl hasnt been able to tank against when running constantly so im sure the same must be the case for L II's

For my Raven Lev 4 soloing setup i go with, 5 PUD II, four hardners, x-L SB and either a 5th hardener or a sensor booster.
Just turn on the SB when shield cap is at 30%. By the time i get to 30% shield the hardest rats in the spawn are dead. Passive sheild tanking basicly, with good cap recharge and that X-large SB for when it gets all too much.
Flys through mission quickly, and if its not a really hardcore mission, i just swap for 5x ballistics or a mix of ballistic and PDU II >:) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I know there have been times when I needed the XL Booster and shield amp just to keep up with the dmg being done (i.e. the last spawn in Unauthorized Military Presense with a few webbers, six MOA class cruisers, and four Ravens...all of which warp in within range). So while I would prefer the ease of just turning on a large booster and forgetting about it, I prefer the ability to tank huge amounts of dmg when needed (can anyone say, "two Supreme Drone Parasites"...heh). Anyway, here is my preferred setup:
6 Seiges 1 Heavy NOS 1 Medium NOS (just to use the slot really)
XL Booster Shield Amp 3 Hardeners based on dmg type 1 Cap charger
4 PDU's 1 Ballistic Control
Obvisouly, get the best gear you can. I'm hoping that I'll be able to replace that C5-L with a Gist-C eventually. I'm about halfway there as long as the price doesn't go up too much more

I have found that I hardly ever have to activate my shield booster with the following setup
6 named siege, 1 named large smartbomb L tech II shield booster, 3 kinetic 2 thermal 55% hardeners 5 power diag II's
you can dump a pdu in favour of a ballistice but i like to keep them all on just in case i need all of cap for some reason (like forgetting to turn on my hardeners)
Hope this helps

i seem to be one of the truely unique ppl when it come to lvl 4 mission setup for a raven, as i speed tank (IE being fast enough to outrun the NPC to get out of his range while staying within mine and blowing him to bits)
anyway i run 2 variations of a setup 1 for deadspace, one for non deadspace:
Deadspace: 6x Zw siege, 1 100mn AB II, 1 Large Shield Booster II, 1 F-90 sensor booster, 1 shield boost amp, 2 cap recharger IIs, 1 pandemonium BCS, 3 beta nanofibers, 1 PDS II
I can run the AB and the booster for serveral minutes together, and with just the booster and amp i was able to tank the damage of the 2nd lvl of rogue drone harassment for long enough to kill the 2 small ones and the other parasite then my shield got back up and was able to let my cap recharge, it can get hairy tho but its done its job for every single mission ive done.
Non-Deadspace: 6x ZW siege, 1 Quad Lif MWD, 1 Large Shield Booster II, 1 F-90 sensor booster, 3 Cap Recharger IIs, 1 Pandemonium BCS, 1 Domination BCS, 3 PDS II

I agree...why spend a fortune on everything else and skimp on the area where spending dough makes the most difference on a Raven? Or are you one of those purists who only uses stuff that they find?

While playing on the test server i came up witht he idea of 6 seige in highs
1 XL Sheild booster and amp 4 x sheild extender 2 BCS?PDU?CPU in the bottom to fit and large/med SB in the highs if you got the grid/cpu
havent tried it on TQ yet but it did give me around 11 thousand sheild hp wich is like haveing another raven sheild to absorb damage before you start boosting. gonna try it on TQ tommorow and ill et you know how it goes
