Seems as of recently my corp decided that they were going to merge with another corp in an alliance in 0.0 so I had some questions. Fitting a almost perfect hulk and a pretty decent drake/raven my questions revolve around what to fit and how 0.0 rats vary. I know my traditional setup for both the drake and raven were always something around one invuln +2 mission specific hardeners but Im not exactly sure on whether 0.0 rats web/scramble or jam (possibly neut). So I looked on battleclinic and needless to say the over populated drake fits on the site make it difficult to consider anything from earlier than 2008.
I came across this fit recently and wanted to ask how well it would fair in 0.0 for purely ratting: Solo Level 4 Drake My question is: how effective is it to just run omni passive (4 hardeners, 1 for each damage type) vs 3 active ones and of course depending on the rat behavior could influence a passive or active drake in this scenario.
The only thing that makes me question the fit above is it being on the part of being lazy (similar to the players that just stack 2-3 invuln II's....) I guess the real question is how effective are passive hardeners vs active ones (other than you would need passive ones on neut heavy situations) if you could choose? This is considered you have all the compensation skill to 3-4.
If anyone would feel like posting their fits for 0.0 drake ratting it would be much appreciated and if anyone would like to explain 0.0 rat behavior. I understand chaining and the initial mechanics behind it just would like to know the behaviors :) Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback.

The big question is what region you are going to be ratting in? That would determine what you tank and what ewar is going to be used against you.
As a general rule though, if you are going to be belt ratting, I'd advise a propulsion mod, to run up to any faction/officer spawns and loot before anyone else gets the idea.
Also, are you going to be belt ratting or running anoms?
an anom has more incommon with a level 4 mission of the same race than belt ratting does.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Edited by: Krahei on 20/07/2011 07:50:30 Edited by: Krahei on 20/07/2011 07:48:48 I think either everyone is passed out in corp or just afk >.> so i cant answer the were at question yet but all i can give you is that we have claimed sov as military and have it at the highest level (V i think?). As far as ratting goes, im sure its purely just clearing belts for miners (prolly chaining them for when there is no one mining) and as far as the mission ships go in between cleaning belts its a knockup between complexes and anomalies.
Now from what im understanding is that anomalies = combat sites in WH cept the npcs are still dumb. But from what i understand whats in them depends on your sov type. And im guessing that complexes are pretty much scanned down combat sites? Id like to ask what kind of mods i would be using against complexes vs anomalies but im pretty sure they vary by sov and system. What i can ask is how they vary in difficulty and isk/hr profit. And also what kind of ships i would be requiring to do the capped military sov complexes/anomalies.

The truesec of the 0.0 system now determines the quality of the anomalies you can get by upgrading it (this has ****ed off many players who spend billions upgrading systems that are now suddenly worthless). For making decent isk (L4 equivalent) only Haven and Sanctum cosmic anomalies are really worth doing. Haven is like an easy-med L4, Sanctum is a hard-very hard L4 difficulty. Cosmic anomalies can be scanned using just the directional scanner. The cosmic signatures you can probe down are normal exploration sites (combat, mining, etc) and have the greatest potential for high isk rewards. The combat sites usually are hard and require some teamwork to do.

I've read about players complaining about the changes you mentioned but I didn't understand what they meant about upgrading. Mind explaining the changes in a simple form for me? So level 4 isk and bounties? So 0.0 is pretty much L4 with a chance of named mods? Whig is worth the risk?

Ratting shouldn't be difficult if you have a decent lvl 4 mission ship. Just make sure you use the right resist ext ext.
You can do havens, though slow, but belt ratting and lower anomalies will still give as much as if not more than level 4 blitzin.
Biggest thing is not to get ganked by roamers, keep local open on your left hand side of the screen stretched vertically so you can keep an eye on everyone in local. Also, know the area and watch intel channels and look for enemies spotted near you.

Nowadays, if you fully upgrade a system for anomalies (to L5) the truesec of the system will determine what you actually get. All systems 0.0 to -0.2 will not have ANY havens or sanctums and can be regarded as pretty much worthless for anomalies. Unless you can't do L4s you're better off doing something else. Before the change, truesec was pretty much irrelevant. The lower the truesec of the system the more havens and sanctums will exists at any time (if the system is fully upgraded). A new anomaly will spawn once an anomaly has been completed and no players are in it for a few minutes (so bookmark if you want to salvage and come back later). A Drake can do a haven but I would hesitate trying a sanctum with one. A BS is the better choice tough. You need the DPS to kill the NPC BS.
