I've done enough research to see that the consensus seems to be that between using a Machariel and swapping to a Noctis versus using a Vargur that the Varg is a better choice is not worth discussing, however, what about Vargur vs Machariel and an alt salvaging with a Noctis at the same time?

Willing to bet it be very annoying thing to micromanage. I wouldn't recomend it. You be better off setting up the other account with a domi, rattlesnake (fof missiles) an just let the drones do their thing. But thats just me, and micromanagement is annoying for me.
Just remember how much management the noctis requires when salvaging and tractoring, do you really think you can do that and still kill as efficiently? Do you think you can do that constantly?

my method is
-use main to clear out mission -use alt to salvage after everything is dead no micromanagement required

Isn't it just quicker/more efficient to blitz missions and ignore the loot? ~~~

Not if you have an alt that can fly a noctis and nothing but a noctis. Why you'd have that i don't know however.
2 combatships in seperate missions will allways be better than any other combination of 2 missionships Parrots, commence!

Flying two combat ships in separate missions? That's much more involved than flying a combat ship plus a noctis.
Also I have a character that flies a noctis as it was going to be a mining character until I felt that mining would be an enormous waste of life. So I trained ore industrial for the hell of it and there you have it.

Depends on the drops. I got a 6 million isk drop from a 5 million bounty mission last week. Sometimes you get 5 mil total loot+salvage from a 20 mil bounty mission.
Having an alt with full salvaging skills is a big help. You cant do it twice as fast, but you can have the noctis ready to go at the gate or ready to warp in. The second you agro the last group you can bring the noctis in. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Alternatively I found just contracting out the bookmarks to some budding salvager and letting them pay you what they felt it was worth to them was a nice way to both support newcomers and get yourself a little bit of extra income while blitzing for minimal effort.
Building initial trust was the only factor and people are less suspicious since you can blue your wrecks. ~~~

Use the mach + noctis. Share the mission rewards with the salvage alt, then after awhile your alt will be able to pull missions form the agent. Will make it that much easier to cherry pick the better missions.

Edited by: I Accidentally YourShip on 23/07/2011 01:12:04 Looking more between the Vargur and Machariel, salvaging and looting is a tedious and boring activity at best. If I can even get 75% efficiency by blitzing the missions with no looting in a Machariel then I'm happier than Hilmar and those 52 monocles.
Does that seem like a reasonable estimate of blitzing with a mach versus salvaging the big wrecks with a Varg?

Been there, got the t-shirt. Even then I found very quickly that just blitzing in the Mach and not undocking the Noctis was better (for me).

No, they really should stop salvaging. That will push up the price of salvage again.

The only way i think it would remain profitable to loot and salvage your mission is if your new to lv4s and can't do them effectively. Or are doing it while killing, aka marauders. I cherry pick loot in missions with my NH and last slot being a tractor beam. It works well, I get the same time for missions it seems and increase my income alittle bit per mission. But lets say I didn't do that and decided to come back to salvage and loot, I wouldnt make as much money as blitzing another mission. In the past I was able to justify it, now the salvage prices seem a lot lower than int he past so it's just not profitable.
