Last night while I was setting there running my little mining operation I noticed I probably look like a mining bot going on. As of right now I run 3 pilots thx to me having 3 monitors. So my to questions are. Is multiboxing against the TOS? Also should I worry about people reporting me for botting if I am there running my 3 characters? I also dont use any macros or anything like that I move from screen to screen while I am mining.

I have been using my 3 characters for 2 years...no one has ever noticed and I think you will find it quite common in EVE...I only use 1 monitor but switch continually to the different toons.

How on earth could it be considered against the TOS? You're paying for multiple accounts...why wouldn't you be able to use them all at the same time?

If you are using programs to automate any of those characters the you are doing something wrong. Having many accounts and playing them all at once is just fine.

Edited by: Taedrin on 22/07/2011 20:26:05 Multiboxing is 100% allowed by the TOS.
Duplicating user keystrokes and mouse movements is also allowed. Even keyboard macros, such as those used by the G11 and similar keyboards are allowed - so long as they do not play the game for you. I would use a general rule of thumb: if you can leave your computer chair while your system/setup carries out an action, it is against the TOS.
EDIT: I should mention that keystroke/mouse movement duplication is in a bit of a grey area. However, I haven't heard of anyone getting banned for this. ----------

Edited by: FundHolder on 22/07/2011 20:34:49 So if I decided to use my macro buttons on my G510 I would be ok to do so?
Thats good news :)

I was for 14 days however I wasn't using Lua the scripting language that comes with the G keyboards. All I had to do was rewrite my macros in Lua, problem solved.

GM response from 07: http://www.eve-search.com/thread/600416/page/2#33
Seems they're allowed as long as they aren't used to completely automate the client such that the player isn't required. It's an old thread, so CCP's stance may have changed since then but I haven't been able to find more info.

I triple box mine on a laptop. Never had an issue, other than it strains the laptop.
I do not know what CCP looks for to determine botting, but players look for several things, and lack of things. One way to show a player you are not a bot is to interact with others. Talk in local, say hello to ratters who come into the belt, or turn any wrecks you have made blue just after a ratter shows up.

If you aren't clicking it yourself, you are a bot to me. The man said anything used to automate is TOS. IMO, rewriting to a language that doesn't get detected is simply cheating the system.
Death to the BOT! Death to the users of BOTs! I see dead mackinaws this weekend.
