I disliked the old one a lot and bought a Sac the moment we had the new skin .. and anyway I think CCP could have made the faction ships have a more unique style. All factions having asymmetrical ships is lousy to start with, and why not make all Amarr ships not look more birdlike, for instance?! There's really some weird ship designs around.
I hope the Moa model gets a revamp, perhaps I'll fly an Onyx then. I believe it got by far the most votes in the "ugliest EVE ship" contest!

This has been happening since Trinity. Although the very original models were much lower-res in comparison to the ones we have today, they were more distinctive and different from each other.
I remember being a bit disappointed with Trinity in that, while the new models looked fantastic in and of themselves, they had lost some of their racial distinctiveness. Gallente looked less organic, Amarr looked less fetishistically smooth, etc. Everything was sort of "Caldarified" - had extra meaningless window lights placed everywhere, and lots of bits of techy looking things stuck here and there.
Same process has gone on with the character avatars. The original character avatars and clothing/accessories were weird and wonderful. The new character avatars and clothing/accessories, while fantastic looking in and of themselves, are blander.
CCP seems determined to push the design aesthetic of EVE in the direction of "bland, generic movie-style s-f".
The air of mystery that the original character/ships designs had, has been replaced by something the mind can immediately relate to any average s-f film of today.
That seems deliberate, but to my mind it's actually a loss of depth to the game - a loss of space for the mind to imagine, and thereby become more immersed. |

Lets face facts, it'l be another of the useless ships that nobody uses, probably the caracal model or some ****. Nobody used to fly scorpions because they were coffins, nobody used to fly mallers because they were lame. Oh how fickle the eve player base is, ships becoming popular solely based on looks... |

I like the Onyx personally, but it's not solely based on aesthetics, the utility of the ship itself makes me more apt to appreciate or at least grow accustomed to its ugly duckling look.
TBH, I adored the old Typhoon hull with all the dangly bits and whatnot, it looked like it had crawled out of hell and left a few pieces along the way, gave it a very... hellish appearance in general. Was sort of disappointed when CCP smoothed it out a bit, now it really DOES look like a flying trash can.

i just recently started using the Hoarder for missions. i think its one of the best looking ships in the game it would be much better to be made into a cruiser instead.
show the hoarder some love ccp and use it for your next cruiser skin. |

...
eaten forum post is eaten.
Apoc/Armageddon- too good looking and more importantly too "correct" to change.
If they re-do a Caldari ship, it either needs to be the Blackbird (which now looks like it's built of Lego or something) or they need to abandon the idea of "make everything sleek," because Caldari don't do sleek (still trying to figure out where the rest of the drones go on the new Scorpion, since it looks more Gallente than Caldari now...).
Minmatar sail-ships (Tempest, etc.) get my vote, simply because the sails remind me of the bridge on a Star Destroyer- sure, it looks cool but REALLY GUYS? Unfortunately, I have no idea how you'd keep the feel of the ships if you ditch them... so maybe come up with something a little less "Hey let's just weld a few of these things end-to-end" for the higher-order Iterons (by the time you get to the V it really does look rediculous... maybe put some of the cargo space side-by-side or something to keep the semi-modular look). |

After I realized that the Apoc is basically an upside down sailing boat I constantly felt the urge to turn the camera angle 180 degrees, to have the ship upright again. Damn OCD. In the end I sold my Apoc and bought a navy geddon instead. Problem solved. |

For starters.

+1 for the Raven reskin, that thing is in serious need of a beak job.
Otherwise I would say that the Moa, Typhoon, and Imicus could all use a bit of a redesign. |

And oh the Bellicose could use a new model, it looks quite silly. |

It'll take them 3 months to design and make the new ship model.
They wont start any time soon as they've put everything on pause to revert a list of 10 things that they implimented with incarna.
That will take at least 6 months if not more for them to revert the changes, then they'd have forgotten about redesigning ships, and then maybe at the 12 month mark someone would have poked the CSM's on the forums, they'll remind CCP and 3months after that they might release a new skin!!
But seriously, that space-shoe needs a facelift.
maybe theyll go like STO has an put all the ship skins in the NeX store They hired actual clothing designers for WiS clothes "no wonder the monocle cost $80, they had to pay royalties" Screw "FiS" its called EVE CCP |

Ships that need to be redone
Raven - definately does not look symetrical
Rokh? - Not so much maybe just smooth it out along the edges
Prophecy - Looks like a fat bird with flat engines
Dominix - Idk maybe attach horns to it lol
Hyperion - Move the turret placement points around the hull, their all in the same place.
Brutix - Give it bigger/wider wings
All of this and a bunch of other ships that I wont list including Minmatar vessels, save the maelstrom. Other than that leave the amarr bs and harby alone. The reality is I thought I could do better, ... I was wrong and-áthe gankers-ádied because of it. |

non judgement wrote:I think the Imicus looks a bit odd. I don't think many people use it though, so it's a bit of a waste of time re-skinning it.
When I was but a noob, the Imicus was the first frigate I actually purchased, having acquired a Navitas and an Atron through the tutorial missions. I thought it was awesome... 3 drones at one time! I could actually handle rats in 0.5 space with that! (This is in the first or second week of play.) It let me work up to that Incursus, it let me do Level 1 missions I wouldn't have been able to do at the time in any other ship I could fly.
I'll always like the Imicus for that. I doubt I'll ever fly one again, but I still have that first ship I bought with my own hard-earned ISK.

Retexture needs to happen on all ships IMO. I want the HI-RES coolness. Higher poly models would lend to a better look on some of the legacy designs.
Priority for retexture is hard to say.....I do know the Raven appears to have been textured in Win 98 MS paint...
In the end, If they'd let me fly around the detailed models that are used in those Youtube videos showing the scale of ships...I'd pee and sing pony songs |

You can change were your guns are placed on the hull by changing what high slots use use for the weapons now. Fill both of those forward positions and leave one of the other (less obvious) slots for whatever else you are putting in that extra high. To kill the enemy and break their toys!
