Do I stick with the Drake or move on to a new platform?
If I go for a new ship ... Which is best for lvl 4s that supports passive shield tanking?

About to move back to the Drake to try L4's. Been doin them in a Rattler. It's great if you like passive tank. Arguably best in game at that.

I would not really recommend doing lvl 4 missions in a drake as a long term idea.
its far from efficient, mostly because you lack substantial dps so its gonna take ages.
Some options as far as passive tanked lvl 4 ships go are gila, ishtar, rattlesnake and nighthawk. Maybe the scorpion and its navy issue variant can also be passively tanked but im not 100% sure about that one.
basically though, most of your best options are not passively tanked, active tanks give much better damage because they dont hog just about all your slots.

I will be curious to see if anyone is doing them with a Gila. I may try it with mine. Not thinking that they have adequate tank but I may be wrong.
The Rattler is, as I said, excellent. The Scorpion Navy Issue and Raven Navy Issue work very well too.

Ive done a crapton of missions in ishtars early on my career, it fares pretty well so im sure the gila will do just as fine :)

Nighthawk uses basically all the same skills as the Drake + command ships. It has better base resists and does better DPS. Most of those other things: Gila, Rattler, etc. require a lot of new drone skills.
I recently spent about 2 months training to go into a Rattler from my Nighthawk. It's really been a letdown so far. Even now I don't have the skills to make the switch really worthwhile. I lost about 30 DPS, while gaining a slightly stronger tank, at the cost of cap stability and mobility. The slightly better tank is outweighed by the much larger sig radius and the fact that I have to stay by my sentry drones to scoop them back up. I know with perfect skills the Rattler would be a significant upgrade, but... apparently that takes more than 2 months.

A Gila can tank nearly anything. It's like a drake, only smaller and faster, with more DPS if you have good drone skills. In many missions you can draw full room aggression and then let the ogres loose to clean up while you read the forums. Even if you mess up triggers you can usually burn away and speed tank/kite.
