Period basis is generally a very safe place to mine (compared to other 0.0 areas).
i've been mining out there for about a month with very few troubles.

On a serious note, if you do go into 0.0, keep an eye out for any other pilots. Generally, they are either 1) pirates, 2) an alliance member come to remove you from your space (kill you) or 3) a pirate alliance Make sure you do fit WCS, and that you have plenty of safespots to hide in if trouble shows up. It might also be worth trying to deploy giant secure cans to ensure your ore doesn't get stolen - although this can ofc give away which belt(s) you are mining in.
Oh, and don't go into alliance owned space without getting permission, generally they don't take well to it. ====================================

Ignore everyone except "The Chef", they are trying to get your corp to go into their space so they can kill you.
Your only choices are:
1) Mine in an unpopulated area. 2) Join an alliance.
The only unpopulated areas are providence and catch. You should try to set up a POS somewhere in that area and then you can mine.
Most alliances are either closed to recruiting, or are PvP only. You could join one of: XETIC, Pheonix Alliance, Stain Empire (closed to recruiting possibly), FiX (under attack atm), or one of the three smaller alliances in Providence.
I suggest setting up a POS in providence or catch and trying to mine there. There is a 3rd option: mining in Syndicate region. However, Imperium and/or SPURM are to be found there and they will hunt you down.

On a sidenote, Shinra no longer holds the refinery in Tpar so contacting them for details might be futile <_<

Yeh, FA and IMP went to pick a fight with the station while everyone else is a bit up north. Bit strange isnt it. FA being invaded 23/7 and they go take a station. Hmm i wonder why.
Perhaps it is because it does not shoot back ?

I doubt 2% is filling our wallets. Its MUCH higer or non-existant(not allowed)in other places. Even alliances charge their members more than we do.

Tbh, you shouldnt post here.
Try and get the names of contacts in some of the main corps holding space out there, or the main ppl in the alliances and talk ingame or at least in private.
There will be some ineterested in letting you mine for a cut of the minerals, there always are. _______________________________________________

neutrals are welcome to come to Period Basis and mine. Shirna refine tax at the refine station is the lowest ive seen at a conquerable station anywhere in eve making it more profitable for the miner.

yes definately mine in period basis..it is out of the way and if another person shows up in local in the section that we mine in then they are usually friendly...we do not give money to shinra apart from for the 2% refine tax..yes FA showed up and took over the station. what they neglect to mention is that the miners down here took it back and then gave it to shinra..if you mine down here u keep everything u mine as well as stuff from all the rats you kill they dont ask for anything and will even protect you as the miners themselves are on each others side..ignore the pirate propaganda about us being slaves to shinra or whatever come down and mine mercoxit with us and then laugh 400 mil past BoB on the way to agil to sell it

I highly doubt any Shinra friend (includes BoB members) will attack neutrals in PB, let alone be in the space. If they do, i bet it can be resolved diplomatically ;).

Edited by: Lallante on 27/02/2005 14:06:10 Shinras friends don't pirate in PB.
Since Our friends include most of "teh eblist p1rats" in the game, that alone gives you an advantage.
An enemy fleet comes by once every six months, I don't know if they shoot neutrals or not, but would guess they probably do. They stay less than a few hours and then things are peaceful again.
We are comitted to keeping the refine rate low.

Yeah i would say go for PB, i my self have lived down there for atleast 50% of the time i have played the game, and thats over a year. And the place is quite safe now whit shinra down there, been a long time sins it was so safe, gotta go back to the days od DMSA, or how u spell it, where there was 100s of ppl liveing down there.
But just remember to contact shinra, before comming down so that they can give u standings and a nap. After that u mostly gotta look out for those mean FA, that comes and lure u out of station to TRY kill u ^_^
And Wyclef u do know that u had the station for what 2 hours before us that just live down there took the station back. But well that happents when u take it and dont even defend it, after DT. But life should be back to normal down there now, whit station back in shinra hands. And the locals really boundet after that attack, showed us that we can still defend it vs some types of attacks, Even tho most of us have 0 to non PvP skillz. But we do out best.
So be free to contact shinra, and we will look forward to seeing more ppl down in Tpar, as it would be good if it could get to its once huge size agin whit 100+ frendly ppl being online at once in Tpar.

I'm guessing that PB inventation doesn't extend to everyone?
