A few days ago our corp suffered a corp theft... and anyone flaming us and call us stupid remember, unless you are running a alt corp this is going to happen to you too... sooner or latter.
Living in WH space we need to give a fair amount of access to our members, trust them in some degree.
If we want to go mental about security we can remove access to all stuff and the CEO needs to be online to give ships, modules and stuff for our members to play.
This way you won't be a victim of corp theft, but who wants to join a corp that in order to play needs to have a director always online?!
So a fair amount of trust is required. Specially with ships. In the current scenario CCP allows 2 levels of security. It's all or nothing... or u can access ALL ships or NONE.
CCP needs to give us players the tools to play the MMO. If we chose to use those tools to trust someone we shouldn't have its our own problem, but we need the tools 1st.

Edited by: Jack Tronic on 27/07/2011 12:03:02 Actually you can setup around 3-4 different access levels to ship SMAs/CHAs preventing others one accessing the others if you know how to abuse the system.

I would think it has to do with the Manage feature for the tower where you can state for each structure what Roles can access what structures. It's not a fix since you can't define a group of players. For instance, you can allow the entire corporation to access one SMA and for another SMA you can allow access for only those with "config starbase equip".
It's not like you can use your "titles" to limit access which would be infinitely more valuable.
But yeah, the only way to lock down your assets is to not allow anyone not trusted access to anything.
I've got some guys I want to be able to config and run some reactions. I could let them do it if I didn't mind them offlining every structure including the tower if they just happened to get a wild hair up their butts one day.
The more I think about the broken features of POS's that have lingered for years since their inception, the investment of time CCP has put into MT, the more p*ssed off I get. My god! Am I turning into a bitter vet?

A drag and drop system, similar to items and containers you where you can throw roles together with permissions, right click for a show info and drop on characters from the corp page would be a simple and intuitive method for role management and corp security.
And POSes need to be redone on top of this.
But instead, we'll get a CQ with reduced functionality over the old hangar and vanity ****. --------

you can do that, just set the reactions and silos to starbase fuel tech and leave tehe tower starbase config, does mean every tower needs configring before they can use it though

The bittervet infection is highly contagious, dear friend. I believe you are.
