CCP, would it be possible to include a donate to charity button in the NeX store so those that do not want this can support a charity with it
Thanks K

What are charities going to do with AUR? It's not money. You can buy it with money. That doesn't make it worth that money.

ISK isn't money. You can't sell it for money. (Well, you can RMT... but that's another story).
If I say "Hi, I made this cool new thing which I sell for 1000 dollars each, it's called an asmdollar, but you can't ocnvert them back", and give everyone 1000 free ones, I can't make this donate thing... Why? People don't want to buy them from me,a nd even if they do, it's nthing different from me just creating new ones.
Now, if CCP allowed what happens with SLL to happen, then this'd be a different story.
(As in, CRASH ALL THE MARKETS!1!!11!!SHIFT1!!!)
TL;DR: Just because you try sell something for something, doesn't mean you as much as you want to others for the same value. ESPECIALLY IF YOU CONTROL THE SUPPLY!...
CCP doing this = them giving away money for free by losing out on GTC money. Got that? Why would they do that? They paid/lost nothign to make that AUR.
edit: I don't think I'm explaining this very well, am I....

I understand your point. However, ISK has a value that has been converted into RL money, to help charities by CCP. AU is simply an extension of that so must have a corresponding monetary value, hence it can be converted into ISK and thus into RL money.

But why would they do this when they can just keep on doing what they do? Selling PLEX?
Even more so, how do they go about selling this AUR? When people buy AUR from them, it's CREATED. They don't need the 1000 they gave you.
Why would they choose to lose money?
Give me a good reason CCP would give GTC money away.

AUR is a PLEX sink disguised as a currency. It is designed to boost the demand for PLEX, thus raising PLEX prices and therefore boosting PLEX creation as a new price equilibrium is reached (meaning more people will be paying RL $$ to get ahead, because it will be more tempting).
So no, it won't ever be used for charity, and I recommend just pretending NeX and AUR doesn't exist

I think this idea is brilliant. ^_^
Dear CCP,
Please give us options to donate our AUR (and ISK, as well) to charity. Even if the exchange rate turns out lower than the actual market value of these virtual currencies, to real-life currencies, I would leap at the chance to make this noble gesture of goodwill to the less fortunate of humanity.
Thanks,

Maybe we could take a hint from the failquitters who failed to quit: we can threaten to not renew out accounts if everyone takes the Aurum bribe?!?!?! Cuz, you know that all those failquitters who failed to quit will be keeping their Aurum, dontchaknow?

As it is CCPs currency then they would have that honour

This is a great idea. Let people return the 'free' aurum and for every 3500 aurum returned, CCP adds 15 euros or whatever they're giving to the PLEX for good program.
Has anyone actually audited the Plex for good program, btw? As unethical as CCP is, it would be nice to know that it actually works as intended.
Why would anybody not support this idea?

It's unsupportable because AUR isn't real money. Neither is ISK. Neither one has been donated to charity, either; only PLEX has been. PLEX is 'real money'.
You can currently donate ISK to charity by buying PLEX with ISK, and then donating the PLEX. This is impossible to do with AUR unless CCP changes it so that it can be used to buy PLEX (never), or sold for ISK (probably never) that you would then use to buy PLEX.

PLEX is no more 'real money' than Aurum is. If you get a buddy of yours to play EVE, CCP will give you a PLEX. If you get enough of your buddies to read their marketing spiel, CCP will give you and everybody else Aurum.
The only way to create Aurum (unless CCP creates it for you) is by destroying a PLEX. I'd like to contribute my Aurum to a worthy cause in relation to the # of PLEX it represents. If CCP doesn't want to allow me to do that, that's fine. But it's a wonderful idea and there's no reason it shouldn't happen if enough customers support it.

I don't support this idea because in so doing I'd have to admit Aurum actually exists.
"Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from Latin: aurum 'gold') and an atomic number of 79."
Fat chance of that. I'm using the Somebody Else's Problem Cloaking Device method with this. I can't see it. It'll go away. (I'll bet there's a boatload of CCP weenies who are a.) Douglas Adams fans and b.) too dumb to realize he was talking about THEM!)

BTW, just to be clear, CCP is doing this Aurum giveaway for 2 reasons.
1. It gets people used to using the cash-store and makes them more likely to use it again (as per this video.)
2. It allows CCP justification to create stuff out of thin air. 'Nobody complained when we gave everybody aurum. How is X any different?'

Bolded the part you seem to be a bit thick on. CCP giving it away is exactly what's happening here.
You think this thread is about people buying AUR and then wanting to donate it? Maybe you need to read it over again.

The whole idea behind AUR is that it can not be converted back to anything of value, other than buying stuff from the nex store and selling that for isk. AUR is a plex sink, that's the whole point of it so no; you can't do what the OP is talking about.

A guide on how to get that get rid of that "annoying" 1000 aurum in your wallet for those of you who suffer from ADHD.
- Open the NeX Store. - Buy a pair of mens 'precision' boots. - Either trash it or sell it on the market, depending on whether or not you want to spite CCP more than you want a small amount of isk.
Congratulations, it's gone! ---

Correct. Even if you use the "free" aurum to buy a NeX item that you then trash, it will still show up as a NeX store sale in CCP's statistics thereby encouraging them to continue "investing" resources toward producing useless and horribly priced space clothes.
