I feel so dirty doing it, but when I fit the subsystems onto my Legion, I came out with more mid slots than low slots. I would be fine with this except it came out with very few low slots. Not enough to armor tank in my opinion. So I present my Shield Tank Legion to you forum warriors (don't judge me).
Intent
To slip in and out of nullsec and rat in major alliances backyards undetected.
It worked out very well with my Tengu, but I keep running out of ammo which is why I wanted a Legion. It's a LOT of jumps out there and back.
Subsystems
Defense - Adaptive Augmenter (useless but I couldn't find anything better)
Electronics - Tactical Targeting Network
Engineering - Power Core Multiplier
Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration (mandatory)
Propulsion - Interdiction Nullifier (mandatory)
High Slots
5x - Heavy Pulse Laser II
1x - Salvager II
1x - Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Mid Slots
1x - Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I
1x - Medium Shield Booster II
1x - EM Ward Amplifier II
1x - Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II
1x - Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Low Slots
1x - Damage Control II
2x - Heat Sink II
Rigs
3x - Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
The Final Stats
EHP comes to 42.4k
Shield resists are 64-70-81-92
Capacitor is stable when MWD and shield booster are off. Pulsing shield booster is necessary.
DPS = 278
Volley = 898
Speed with MWD = 1278
Targeting range = 75k
Weapon Optimal = 7,200
Weapon Falloff = 4,800
Sig Radius w/ Halo implants = 152
So, am I a bad person for shield tanking a Legion? Is this even viable for the purpose intended? It just feels so.... wrong but I don't have the lowslots to properly tank for armor.

If ammo is an issue, drones are your friend. The real issue is sneaking out there and avoiding all the bubbles. Even with a full cargo hold full of ammo, I will eventually have to return to get more which is annoying and time consuming. I'd rather stay out there shooting rats.
Plus I'm really just trying to reap some of the rewards of nullsec without having to deal with nullsec politics bullsh*t.

I'm aware of cases when shield Legion works indeed, for example it can work as a part of shield incursion fleet. But this one gives me doubts.
I mean, its DPS is pretty low, that pretty much affects your ratting income, so is it worth risking T3 in Null with this sort of payout (what are you expecting one to be btw)? |

Your DPS is amazingly bad--so bad I actually EFT'd this because I thought maybe you had posted results from an all-zero character by mistake.
You'd do better with a bomber, or by getting a decent setup and staying in highsec. |

He's just saying that cause you'll be ratting his turf ;p Nah, JK.
But on the serious side, you're doing it all wrong. There's simply no fits in the game which do not use ammo, fits a Covops cloak and deals enough damage to rat efficiently. So stop aiming for the covops-wierd tanking approach, get a scouting alt and fit a normal CN Cloak instead.
Myself I do the same thing you're aiming for all the time, either using Tengu w/ HM's or HAMs, an Ishtar or a Proteus w/ Drone setup. With a Cheetah character on other account.
Stop trying to do this solo, there's just no way to manage that. |

You do not shield tank a legion. Go and fly a harbinger or an oracle if you're gonna paper shield nano tank it. |

If you have an interdiction nullifier can't you just MWD-Cloak through camps and skip the covops cloak that gimps your DPS? Genuinely curious if this works, got some nullsec t3 setups of my own that I'd like to use with this. |
