Quote: The other auction house is to use real currency. This is player to player transaction (NOT Blizzard selling items - they made this very clear at the event). There is an unknown to us at this time 3rd party that Blizzard will be working with. They will be taking a cut in the sales. Blizzard is doing this because they realized the market was there in Diablo and Diablo 2 and the scamming that went with it. In this way they can control it (and what they didn't tell us but is obvious, capitalize on it).
Now, I'm sure I don't have to explain to any of you why this is the craziest thing I've ever seen and how abused it sounds like it could be.
So, you just sit there and complain about "being forced" to buy clothing for your character and the non-existent (and never will exist) gold ammunition.
I guess WoW players will have jobs now.

This should be in off-topic.
That said, I think the D3 auction house is a fairly cool idea. You must have never played D2, because item selling on the "black market" was RAMPANT. This implementation of an auction system is somewhat akin to the original PLEX system in Eve-Online, aka RMT designed to fight gold sellers (by letting regular players participate).
Now if blizzard starting injecting funny hats and dresses in the auction house that were ONLY available by sending $$ to blizzard, that would be Incarna...

Except for the fact that these players are receiving actual cash for the items they sell? Fly safe, Die hard |

I though you NeX-haters had a point until I read idiotic statements like this one.
You're a sheep.

I would really like to know whether this is RL $$ -> virtual "gold" <--> in-game items, i.e. you can trade items only for the gold, or if you can actually cash out and get real money out of it. And I mean real money you can go and buy a beer with, not just credits in this or that Blizzard store.
Admittedly it makes sense, but seeing how rampant botting was in DII, if there is actual real money to be earned, I expect it to become a very serious issue. I hope Blizzard already has some countermeasures in mind. ---

So... if your job/income is to farm Diablo 3 items to sell to other players for RL cash, can you claim your gaming PC, internet connection, and D3 game purchase as tax deductions?
If some uber item drops, do I have to report that as a gain/asset/gift on my taxes even if I never plan on selling it?
Does needing the advice of a tax lawyer and/or accountant mean that Diablo 3's economy is more realistic than Eve's?

So, the suggestion is 'don't complain because worse things happen elsewhere'? By this logic: don't complain about being robbed because other people get murdered; don't complain about government oppression unless you live in the most oppressive society on earth; don't complain about bad food in a restaurant because they are serving worse elsewhere; don't complain about NEX because other games are doing arguably worse things with MT (back to the start). I don't think you have a very good line of argument here.

Legitimized RL cash trading between players isn't actually all that offensive to me, really.
Someone will still have to earn the items in game, instead of spawning new items out of thin air in exchange for RL currency.
