Simple, the only thing I can buy with 1000 aur is a pair of boots. Yes, that's correct, a pair of boots. Yes, that's correct, something no one else in the game can see for at least two more months. CCP, in case you can't tell, let me put this in plain english for you: you blew it, again. Why? Simple, the one item in the store you had a hope of selling to us malcontents, were those goggles, simply for comedy value. Instead, the goggles are priced at 1500 aur, just out of reach. Now perhaps you did this hoping that we'd quickly go our and buy a plex and convert it into aurum, but you'd be wrong. Why? Because we didn't buy a plex for this already, and you knew this. Don't play coy. The reason we are all 1000 aurum richer is because no one is buying anything in that store. Sure Hydra spent their AT winnings on monocles for everyone, but after that? The bottom line is this, there's nothing in the Nex store that improves combat or mining or really anything but one's ego, and once the big egos have filled their monocle needs, what next? So, your choice. Want to call the Nex store a success? Send us all another 500 aur for those goggles - I promise, you'll sell a f-ton of them. Want to see the Nex store flounder? Keep doing what you're doing... it's going so well already. The bottom line is this, a decent percentage of us were never, ever going to buy anything in the store, and now you've double-down and guaranteed it. Way to go. Oh, and thanks for the aurum.

So those unpriviledged masses will be able to get something exceptional one day, bless them, I guess they will mark that day in their calendars.

You can get for a total of 5.5k aurum reward which allows you to purchase a more expensive and "better" item. B: You can still sell the boots for isks on the market. C: it is also nice for those who already had aurum and for who this allowed them to purchase a particular item without buying an other plex.

For those who want goggles, they'll be able to buy some with 500 AUR to spare. I bought my boots with ISK. 1000 AUR is about 110mil, and the boots are saturated to such high levels that I bought a pair for 18 mil. Bargain!

Therefore there's no need for us to make a great fuss about it. Please do not petition it (for removing), because this leads to wasted time at the gamemasters working queue where he/she could have done a more important ticket. Simply save it ... maybe in future there's another AURUM gift, which adds to the spared one.

Just think about it for a minute, if they don't give us enough free to buy what we want then people will mainly do one of two things... 1. They will save it for the next free AUR and get something then. 2. They will top it up with purchased AUR so they can get something. Granted the odd few may view it as an insult and quit, but to be honest if they're willing to quit over something so small then they would have quit over somethign else equally small eventually so i won't count them. Either way it's either a net gain or no change at all in the pockets of CCP, so yeah it's a bloody clever thing to do really, you just aren't seeing the bigger picture and the angles from a business perspective.
