I was looking through the POS mods and I noticed the Coupling Array. I was wondering if there's any materials it specifically can't hold. Do to its lower requirements and such, it seems like it would be a good idea to use one of those in situations where you don't strictly need the capacity of a regular and more specialized array. Am I understanding it right or are there limits in the types of materials they can hold?

it's only used for moongoo stuff, as a temporary (short term) array in a chain.
e.g. you'd (potentially) set miner -> reactor -> coupling array -> silo
As a precaution in case things "tick" funny, you wouldn't lose out on a cycle of stuff...

Ok, thanks for that. I did know about timing the tick of the POS and such (I did nullsec moon harvesting for a bit, but it's been a year).
The main thing I was trying to figure out is weather a Coupling Array could hold anything (and therefore replace any type of silo if you didn't need a lot of volume) or if it was simply a Silo (capital s), but smaller. I think I've determined that it is simply a mini-Silo by now (though I still haven't tried it myself, I was just trying to work some math around in my head).

It can hold anything that a silo of any kind can (moongoo, gasses, minerals...). It can not hold other stuff, e.g. modules.
There is also absolutely zero reason to waste fitting on it if your POS caretakers know what they're doing. ---

For a complete list of silo and coupling array materials (same as a Normal Silo) see this guide.
