Hey all, I want to take a very high quality screenshot so i can then play around with it in photoshop and then save it to a web freindly format. As of right now my screenshots are saved in bmp format i believe :(. I downloaded the free version of fraps (limits me to BMP)that im using to take the captures but i am not satisfied with the quality it produces. For some context in what i'm trying to achieve: i'm trying to build some background and banner images to be used in a website and a photo gallery(eveisreal.com perhaps?). So i would like to start out with very good quality and work with that then shrink it down for the web. So a couple questions for you all.
1. what program do you use to take your high res screenshots, is there a way? 2. is the full version of fraps worth the cost and will that give me a high qaulity capture?(i'm actually not sure how much it cost atm)(I also plan on attempting to make ingame videos)
Thanks for your help everyone.

Press "Print Screen" and paste it directly into photoshop. Save it as a png. Not gonna get much higher quality than that.

Few things...
There is a high quality switch in your EVE settings giving you a PNG whenever you take a screen shot.
1. EVE 2. Fraps is worth the cost if you plan to create media from any game at high resolution in perfect quality. It's $37 and you get a perpetual licence, meaning every time there is an update, you get it for free. So it's less than a round of beers for a lifetime of updates - that, is a steal.
If you have experience in beta-testing, they might take you on as a beta tester and you can get access to some extra 'stuff'.
Back to you though - just use EVE for snaps and Gimp it and when you want to make videos, get the full version of Fraps...and a second HDD.
I have tried all of the screen capture/game capture tools out there and although so come close, Fraps is the best.
CCP use it.

1. Everything he said besides that sentence, PNG is highest quality and eve can directly create a PNG by turning on high quality screen shots in the options. 2. Above poster is the kind of person that buys apps for an iphone each day, $37 for infinite upgrades or get yourself a private tracking torrent site and get it for free, every version, day of release.
I am only spreading knowledge of this, I am not recommending or even suggesting illegal download. Therefore this comment cant be touched as it is doing no harm.

I don't know what client you guys are running but mine exports REALLY BAD JPG's in low quality setting and uncompressed high-quality BMP's in high-quality setting.
If you just want to get them web ready quickly see this thread I made.
If you are thinking the bitmaps are not good quality, they are the best option you have. You can use Fraps which makes decent web-ready images straight off but if you want quality for photoshop editing then you need to work from the bitmaps.

Also keep in mind the highest resolution EVE can take as in pixel dimensions is what you are currently playing at.
Though a "Digital Camera" button would be cool too that would let you take super huge pics at far higher quality than what is produced in real time..
