Take one bulldozer. Add welding knowhow, plenty of time and a huge grudge.
A sleepy little town in Colorado wakes, unsuspecting. Witness teh awesome.
Marvin Heemeyer, RIP
PS: I want that skin in my EVE.

Well he took out the town library, so yeah I would say he sounds like he could be a Republican.

Edited by: Bart Starr on 03/08/2011 04:21:06 That work that went into that bulldozer was pretty amazing - even to the point of making homemade 'composite' armor with concrete sandwiched between armor plates. Only problem was his bulldozer choice: Cat D9 probably would have lasted longer before blowing out its radiator.
And then it was battling yellow scrap iron - head to head with a 988 front end loader AND later a sc****r.
As someone who works around this kind of equipment all day, pretty epic stuff.

Well he's certainly not a real american left winger... the government would never hand out one of those things. |

If you actually look into that story it wasnt about right or left wing. It was about retaliation.
Things were down that crushed that guys business so he got revenge on the people he blamed.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

The wiki article lacks the most important information: What were the final results?
Did any of those he "get revenge on" actually lose anything? or were they all compensated by insurance/government entities? It was an interesting way to try and get revenge for a perceived wrong - but it's pretty hard to get economic revenge just by striking out.

I read his wikipedia page, after watching the vid. I don't blame him for losing it. Everyone has the right to an honest buck. I also think that the cops lied about him shooting first. RIP, Marv. Epic side-project.

A good write-up http://www.damninteresting.com/the-wrath-of-the-killdozer/
He didn't kill anyone - but not for lack of trying. Had gunports, and a list of names. Wasn't until the bulldozer got stuck in a basement that he have up and shot himself.
Impressive none-the-less

First, didn't mean to put this here - meant for OOP, but didn't notice what page I was in.
I don't really buy the line that this guy was shooting at people. Most likely a line the police gave to discourage sympathy. Guy was pretty focused on specific targets, not just destroying random houses.
Originally, I was drawing a comparison. Sicko like the norway dude, plants a bomb, shoots a bunch of kids and then surrenders, not even having the decency to go down in a firefight. Then has the nerve to start issuing demands.
Marvin Heemeyer, on the other hand, picked up his welding rig, built a pretty amazing contraption, got revenge in a spectacular yet bloodless way, killed himself, and became a legend.
Not the way to handle your grievances - but he achieved a certain degree of public sympathy.
If one MUST go on a rampage, Marvin showed exactly the right way to do it.

Old.
But honestly somewhat brings a smile to me, He plotted his revenge, he planned it ahead and from what I read of the armor on that thing it would have taken a few hellfire missiles directly to the main armor and kept going..
The KillDozer will live on of course in memories of ways to flip out and go fscking nuts on a town.
Just like the Jetblue guy who took two beers and blew the emergency slide, Marvin knew how to make an exit.

The wiki state the contray.
"In 1992, Heemeyer bought 2 acres (8,100 m2) of land from the Resolution Trust Corporation, the federal agency organized to handle the assets of failed savings and loan institutions. He bought the land for $42,000 to build a muffler shop and subsequently agreed to sell the land to a concrete company owned by the Docheff family to build a concrete batch plant. The agreed price was $250,000 but according to Susan Docheff, Heemeyer changed his mind and increased the price to $375,000 and later demanded a deal worth approximately $1 million. This negotiation happened well before the rezoning proposal was heard by the town council.[5]
In 2001, the zoning commission and the town's trustees approved the construction of a cement manufacturing plant. Heemeyer appealed the decisions unsuccessfully. For many years, Heemeyer had used the adjacent property as a way to get to his muffler shop. The plan for the cement plant blocked that access. In addition to the frustration engendered by this dispute over access, Heemeyer was fined $2,500 by the Granby government for various violations, including "junk cars on the property and not being hooked up to the sewer line". Heemeyer sought to cross 8 feet (2.4 m) of the concrete plant's property to hook up with the sewer line."
Add in the drivel about God "building" him to do it, and you get a right-wing numbskull. ------------------------------------------

Well, consider that his access, sewer and water were cut off by the suddenly 'rezoned' new concrete plant.
All of his attempts to relink to utilities and create a new road access to his business were denied.
Then, on top of that, suddenly fining him for having 'junk cars' at a repair shop!
Its pretty obvious someone in local government had it in for him, but the zoning board probably just figured he would give up, sell and leave town.
The bulldozer was purchased to build a new access to his business, after all.
