Hi, I usually do mission running with my Omen. It always succeeds in great succession, however; it is very unstable cap wise. I rarely ever need to use an Afterburner but it comes in useful sometimes. I was thinking of swapping it with a third Cap Re charger II so that I can repair myself without running out of cap a lot.
The only reason I am asking is because the majority of people in the Help chat recommend me to use an Afterburner although in all of my level 1/2 missions over the last 6 months I have never depended on it as much as my capacitor recharges.
What do you think?

How good are your cap skills and what fit are you running? It shouldn't be hard to keep a Med repper going on a cruiser. And are you keeping your speed up during the mission? Often you won't actually need to rep very much if you can keep your speed up.
As to if an AB is needed, it's up to you. If you're not bothering speed tanking, then the AB is mostly just used so you don't have to slow-boat to the next acceleration gate; if the extra cap recharge is worth it, having an AB is strongly recommended, but there's nothing forcing your to fit one. However, it might be that it's your cap skills that need the help, rather than needing to drop the AB.

When fighting cruisers, you can reduce incoming damage noticeably by using an afterburner. Keep in mind that while incoming damage is reduced, the damage you deal with your own guns will also be reduced unless your skills in tracking as well as the modules you fit are negating the added transversal speed. ---

Think it's time to bump up to at least L3 missions don't ya think?
An afterburner is better because some mobility also helps keep down incoming dps. You don't want to be a cap stable punching bag unless you're in a battleship. And with enough skills even in a battleship you won't need to be cap stable.

On just about anything BC and smaller, a single Battery will help better than a single Recharger.
I'd suggest an AB, Medium Battery, and Recharger in the mids. Then probably 3x CCC I rigs. Admittedly, it's not a pretty fit, but it's only a mission boat. - Explosions!

I agree with this, though why aren't you doing lv3's if you been at this for around 6months. Just jump into a BC and go have some fun. It's a lot easier to make those cap stable. When you hit lv4's ABs start coming in handy to drop some of the incoming DPS by speed tanking by pulling an orbit around something (jet cans come in handy here) as the NPCs have crappy tracking so even orbiting something slowly by PVP standards will drop incoming DPS significantly.
But for now I think a cap battery or cap recharger will get you more for your money.

Ever think about a squire cc implant? What are your cap skills like, Energy management, Energy Systems Operations and controlled bursts at lvl 5 make a big difference.

The problem with the Omen is that it has 5 turret hardpoints (Which is a lot for a Cruiser) therefore powergrid becomes an issue. Especially if the player fitting the ship is a newer player.
But in general you are right. On smaller ships a battery is almost always superior to a cap recharger.
